Wait... Are you telling me that some of you actually thought to yourselves "gee, this phone would be great if it was only a little taller"?

Sorry, I'm not buying it.

Actually, I think keeping almost the same size screen, but just changing the aspect ratio, is a pretty perfect solution for me.

That's just my opinion, everybody has their own. Some will like it, some will hate it.

But, if it turns out that that's exactly what they do with just making it taller, I personally will definitely have enough interest to at least play around with it, and consider buying it.

I don't really have a need for a larger phone but am going to buy the next iPhone either way. More screen space would be nice but there is a point where the phone becomes too big. Some of the newer android phones are just way too big to be practical in my opinion, so I'll be sticking with the iPhone

Good point. I agree they stop being practical after a certain size.

What you think is "outdated" i think is solid and consistent. That's what I want from my phone. Most people agree. This is the path Apple is pursuing. That works for me. Not because I am an iSheep, but because it fits my lifestyle and workflow. I appreciate solid performance and the app echosystem more than widgets and a stupid notification light.
Im not trying to argue, but why do you say "most people agree" regarding Apple's choice to not give bigger screens? Based on this informal poll (more than half want a bigger iPhone still) then Ive always felt we are just accepting what Apple offers simply because we prefer the OS and are willing to compromise screen size in order to use it.

I feel the 3.7" screen was adequate for 2007 but the mobile world has changed a lot since then and that is why hardware got bigger as it adapted to user needs. I dont want a gigantic waffle sized iPhone but I do feel that if iPhone die-hards gave it a chance then they'd recognize the benefits of a slightly bigger iPhone and would be surprised that all the excuses (one-handed operation, pocket/purseability) wouldn't be as big an issue as they make it to be.

I actually don't mind the screen the way it has been the last five years. I have really small hands lol even the iPhone is uncomfortable to hold one handed to text sometimes.

I guess it would be nice to have a larger screen to watch videos and play games and what not, but it just wouldn't be practical for me in the long run. I honesty think the iPhone 4s is perfect size; width, height and thickness all meet my expectations. Being a little taller wouldn't be too much difference, I'm just really hoping all these leaks are right and it won't be any wider.

And yes, I know I'm the minority here. Everyone else seems to want these huge ass screens on their mobile phone for some reason.

I have big hands, and like phones with big screens, but I've honestly never been bothered with the size of the iPhone screen. However, 4 inches, wider and longer, would have been ideal.

And it just feels like a giant misstep. Change the design, and keep the screen the same and people would have been ok. But keep the design the same, and only make it taller? It sounds, really, really silly.

I'd have to try it in person to see. I'm pretty happy with my 4.7" Titan, so going back to 4" might take some getting used to. In all honesty, I'd just have to play with it and see how it feels, but I doubt it. My main gripe with my 3GS was typing, and I fail to see how a taller phone would solve that.

I voted yes because I'm fine with it but "yes taller is just what I wanted" wouldnt be exactly what I would say if asked. I get why they just made it taller and im ok with it I wanted a little change to the front of the phone and they achieved that without anything drastic. mission accomplished. I also thing people here are overreacting without even holding the phone. most will buy it anyway and be very happy.

No, I still want a bigger iPhone. But we don't always get what we want, so I'll just be picking up the iPhone 5 this month.

I think we all need a chance to hold it and use it before we will know. GalaxyS3 a bit too big. iPhone is a bit too small.

It almost looks like they didn't know what direction to go so the settled on the same design and just elongated it.

Or it looks like they had one of the most popular, most successful designs of all times and figured, why change it other than to account for the LTE radio and larger battery.

Samsung's Galaxy Note is my favorite. Only sold it because I'm getting Note II!

I don't get the obsession of using a Super Phones with one hand, we're not j***ing off here. LOL I had a few BlackBerries before I gave up on it, so I got used to typing with both hands.

To be honest with Bluetooth & Texting I rarely held it up.

Apple guru's are alot like Cubs fans. They keep filling the seats and partying it up regardless of the product that's out there. If the White Sox put crap on the field, they stop buying tickets. 80% of fans in the seats at Wrigley don't know what the hell is going on or who 3/4's of the team is.

made me :D:D

This will be the first iPhone I won't buy on launch day.. I got rid of my 4S in May and have been using the One X (now running CM10) since then. This is easily the best screen I've ever seen/used on a mobile phone before so I'll need to play around with the new iPhone for some time to see if I like it enough to drop this phone.

Tried the GS3 out of curiosity for Android having using an iOS since the first iPhone came out and waiting for iP5 announcement. Here I am 4 weeks later and now giving my 4S to wife, I could never go back to that small screen once you get used to a bigger screen. IT wasn't the software, it was hardware that brought me to Android. I'm still learning the Android and I'll probably like it too. Might look again at iPhones if they start bigger screens.

I was never really bothered about screen size to begin with so Im not all for it nor am I against it.

I know I dont really want a slab of a phone like the SGS3, I just dont need my phones to be big.
