Does anybody else shudder, when your friends or family tell you they bought a new PC and it has better specs than a Mac. Ugh... is it just me or would you rather have a used older Mac, rather than a brand new PC that will get viruses for sure and feel like a hunk of plastic?
Not one bit.
First, when they ask for help I can say "I have a Mac, sorry"
I actually set my parents up over the 2009 year with two Dells, both were refurb dual cores for less than the price of any single Mac product I could buy. Threw in a couple of nice looking but cheap wide screen monitors and they are very happy. In all the years they have had PCs they never had a virus or other issue.
About three months after purchase the machine I bought for my mom had its motherboard partially friend from a possible surge (well the surge protector survived but the usb hub certainly did not and that part of the mother board it connected to didn't). Reported the problem to Dell and a tech came out that week and replaced the motherboard... simple as that, no cost. When my iMac fried I had to take into an authorized repair center and wait three weeks.
It all comes down to, what gets the work done that they need to get done for the price that best fits their budget.
