I have set launchpad to open when I put the mouse to the bottom left of the screen and set out my most used apps there!! Extremely quick and means that I can access this from full screen apps where as you cannot access your menu bar.

Yea you can. Just move your mouse to the top and it will show. While in full screen, cmd + space and you have spotlight open.

why not just make you applications folder as stack on the dock? that way it's 2 clicks, one to open the grid and 2nd to open the app.
It was so useful to me, I use the same method for all folders I find myself looking for most, home folder, utilities etc.

Doesn't anybody use Quicksilver anymore? What a beautiful program. I used it before upgrading to Leopard and found Spotlight to be very disappointing in comparison.

Nice mention, thanks a lot. I just installed this and it's awesome.

I have it on the dock opened next to finder. I use Alt + Tab to switch between programs, Cmd + Space if I need to spotlight by default, and now Quicksilver always opened (uses basically no resources) and my key bind is Opt + Space.

I have pretty much everything I use on my dock but it's nice to have keyboard shortcuts too coupled with trackpad gestures I can navigate this machine like a true freak now.

I use the dock for main apps or launchpad now for apps I use every once in a while. I rarely use command+ space for that. I use it a lot to define words though

I am surprised I haven't seen any Launchbar (not Launchpad) users respond yet. It is incredibly useful for my workflow. I find it useful for launching apps and much more. The more and more I use my mac, the more and more I discover how valuable keyboard shortcuts are for helping make an efficient workflow. If I didn't use Launchbar I am sure I would use Quicksilver or Alfred.

I have the dock hidden as I don't find much use for it.

Some people default to the mouse and others to the keyboard. That is the biggest factor in how one opens apps. I've seen people with bloated desktops full of aliases like it's Windoze 95. LOL

I love it, in addition to making my workflow nearly seamless, it also impresses all my friends. I could melt face with Quicksilver and Synergy at my old job where I had a Mac... I had fun explaining why I only needed one mouse and keyboard for the Mac Pro and the Dell box I used.
