I like to gift my devices after an upgrade and hence the usage of covers/screen protectors to help prevent scratches and scrapes when given away. All original boxes/accessories are kept like new as well.

I treat my devices very well and even with minimal protection they are usually still like new when I replace them. Also, I don't worry about resale value because I usually just give old devices to family or friends who are not concerned about superficial blemishes as long as it works.

I know I am in the minority, but I've always disliked the thinness of Apple's products. For both my iPad and iPhone, I have cases that resemble vintage books which double the thickness of the devices, but don't add much weight.

I preordered the pencil & smart keyboard. The Pencil is due 11/19-11/27 but the keyboard could be 3-4 weeks for me. When I picked up my iPad in store they had *no* accessories of any kind.

So I ordered a smart cover since those were available online. Really really pleased with it actually. I'll see how the keyboard is when it comes but this could be a good thing to have as backup.

I've got the iPad Mini 4 in a silicone back. I have an old mini neoprene sleeve which I put the mini in when I'm not using. No smart cover. Refuse to pay for two separate pieces especially with the neoprene sleeve.

Used to use just a Smart Cover with a carbon fiber skin on the back of my Air 2. Now I'm using the TwelveSouth SurfacePad that I got through Woot for $30. Love it. Great stand, a little more protection than the Smart Cover and hardly adds any weight when folded back. Love the folio feel...more professional look, IMO.

I usually have done just the cover with my Mini's and Air but was really intrigued with the separate cover and case for the iPP. I am loving the combo and that I can just take the cover off and still have the case. This will be sitting flat on a surface plenty more than my air due to the pencil and drawing/notes so I want to avoid scratches. I think it looks nice too. I usually love to be naked btw. Slowly converting. Im not prude, I swear ;)

Curious if you've got the Smart Keyboard now and what your thoughts are... I just received mine today, and I love it. It's really awkward to use the Pencil with the Keyboard orientation (which is predictable based on the angle and the slight give to the screen in this setup). But the Keyboard doesn't allow for the slightly propped up, tabletop orientation like the Smart Cover does. The Pencil rates above the Keyboard for me, so I'm not sure what I'll do: swap between the Keyboard Cover and the Smart Cover, or just go iPad flat on desk for more serious Pencil use, or return the Keyboard and just use the Smart Cover.

Actually I'm using a Smart Case on my iPad Air and a Smart Cover on the Mini 4 .... But I'll buy the rear case protection for the Mini 4 in a few days.

If OEM Apple cases are the topic I greatly prefer the Smart_Case as opposed to the Smart Cover. It's a very nice grippy finish which improves ergonomics substantially. Typical Apple stratospheric pricing does insure you'll feel ripped off.

For non OEM, Amazon is bulging with great deals on very high quality cases.

I was a suckered for just one APPLE Smart Case, although I can easily afford it, no one likes getting had.
