Apps have proven to be a huge disappointment to me. Maybe when they become native launch will speed up or maybe Gen 2 will be what we were expecting all along similar to iPad vs iPad 2.

I love the watch but generally do not touch it -- just as I wouldn't touch a traditional watch. The exception is Apple Pay. Otherwise all the information I gather is either in my complications or notifications. On a lark I launched Maps the other day while walking. I literally was 3 blocks down the road before it appears then it took another 2 blocks for the graphics to load. Then it could only give me driving instructions. Just an example of why to I don't bother launching apps.

My most used apps are Messages, Outlook, Twitterific, UBank, TuneIn and Music, all used multiple times a day. It's getting cold here in Dublin and being able to do all of the above while out walking or on transit etc and taking my iPhone out, is a joy.

I'm going to Rome next week for the weekend and can't wait to use Maps to help find my way around as well as a glorious little travel app I purchased that has POI's and a Metro map that I can use to explore the side streets while my 6s plus is snug in my pocket.

Wife and I were in Rome last winter and used the same apps to get around and it was great. I was wishing I had a way to leave my phone in my pocket just to reduce the risk of it getting snatched. Watch would have been perfect especially when riding transit. Have fun!

What is the "glorious little travel app"?

My most used app is for keeping track of my tasks and lists of things, I won't mention the name because it's one of my own.
But I'd be lost without it on my watch now. When we go shopping is so much easier to just glance at the list on my watch and check things off, than pulling my phone out and using it while pushing a trolley :D

Here in Dublin snatching iPhones is a huge problem. The latest torment is theives waiting for a tram door to close and either snatching an iPhone and jumping off as the door closes or stretching in from the platform just as it closes and grabbing one from someone close.

Seriously? Have things gotten that bad? Soon we'll have to tether our phones to our wrists

haha i actually did that (to my belt) otherwise some bitch would have gotten away with mine a while ago. didnt even feel her hand in my pocket

(that was in Spain)

I always launch the podcast app Downcast before I go running. First I launch RunKeeper and then I tell Siri to launch Downcast. Then I double tap the crown to go back and forth when I'm out running. I alternate between the two to either see my pace or skip past podcast commercials. I love it.

Before I had my Apple Watch I was forced to spend a lot of time setting up podcast playlists in advance. Now I don't have to do that anymore. If a podcast finishes during my run, I can pick a new one while I'm running. It's great. Also, before I had my Apple Watch I use to have to wear my phone on my arm so I could see data. Now I can wear my phone in a fitness belt since I can see my distance/pace on my wrist. It really is quite handy.

But if you never exercise...

I only use a few apps but reading this has me thinking I'm going to try and find more. The first few months it was only used as a watch and music remote. Now I use it to operate the lock on my front door (August), set the temp. (Nest(IFTTT)), remote start and operate lock on car (Viper). Need to do a few upgrades so I can start using Siri to do all of this. The watch is sometimes slow and crashes, was hoping Watch Os 2 would fix this, maybe the developers just need more time. Use the podcast app through out the day, and that's about it really.

One of the things that got me most excited for buying the Apple Watch was the demos of the apps. I've had my 42MM Stainless Apple Watch since launch day. While I love how it looks and the notifications it gives me, other than the occasional glance use, I almost NEVER delve deeper into the Apple Watches functionality, specifically, the App screen.

I'm curious if anyone here does frequently launch one or even a lot of apps, and if so - what is your use case for doing so? Can you give me some examples where you look at your watch, access your apps, launch one, and use it? My struggle here is that I love the looks and notifications, but the functionality in my use cases so far haven't been much more than when I used my Pebble.

I'm wondering if I am just missing something and not using the watch to it's full potential for that reason.

I load up Clear every time I walk into the grocery store or Home Depot. Unfortunately it takes forever to load... but its handy as hell since I don't have to walk around with my phone out.

I've been wondering if the reason I don't leverage the app capability (from app screen) is because of poor performance or just lack of use case in my specific scenarios. I tried looking for something to help me track my newborns sleeping times, feeding times, dirty diapers etc, but haven't found anything like that yet.

Only ones which i use regularly are

Music

Onefootball

Mobscores

NBA

Fitness

One which i use alot is wunderlist which i think is great for when shopping and instead of getting my phone out to check my list i just do it and tick it off as i go on the watch

Notifications, Activity, Reminders, Maps, Remote, and Now Playing are really the only things I use. I will probably use Siri a lot more once I upgrade my Phillips Hue hub to the home kit compatible one. I've had the watch since launch day and I still have no regrets on my purchase. I really don't know what else I would use it for anyway.

Preinstalled: remote for Music, remote for Camera, Phone, Messages, Alarms, Timer, Weather, Activity… (all via Menu and also via Siri).

Other extra installed: my bank app, Sky Guide, Procreate Pocket.

Apps which works for me, but eats battery (even if not running): Facebook messenger, Instagram.

App that never works properly: SoundCloud.

The only app I use is the workout app honestly

I use Wunderlist for shopping lists and Departure Board for train stuff. I have various weather apps but use the preloaded one usually as I access it from a complication. I love Dark Sky though.

I used Maps for walking directions in Venice in the summer and it worked unexpectedly well given how difficult to navigate Venice can be. Venice is a city I know quite well but in an unknown city, especially one that feels less safe, it'll be brilliant not to have to take my phone out of my pocket all the time.

I use the Workout app a lot.
