That's a common refrain. I happen to believe it's utterly false. But, that gets into the philosophical realm, and gets entangled in the concept of objective vs. subjective values. Some people hold to the BITEOTB ^ and also subscribe to a belief in objective truth. Those two positions are contradictory. This remains true in certain parts of western Africa, where some parents continue the tradition of fattening up their daughters for months in order to make them more attractive to prospective husbands.
The "truth" in my book can be defined as the most logical interpretation of the available pertinent facts. As such, each and every "truth" contains a measure of subjectiveness depending on how sticky and unequivocable the facts are.
