No-one's orders shipped April 10.

Just to be clear, a number of orders did indeed ship April 10th, including my own. I think most people who paid for expedited shipping received their units yesterday (April 14th).

Honestly every launch since the original iPhone has been problematic in one way or another. Waiting in insane lines for endless hours only to be told there is no product or be given a voucher, etc etc. - is that any better? Or to be up all night hitting a website that can't handle the traffic?

In the grand scheme of things, this one actually went relatively smoother. If you were up at the designated time for pre-orders, the sites seemed much more accessible. I was able to get in both through the app and through the website. The Macbook made it to me from China in 4 days. If the watch actually gets to me on the 24th I will consider this the best launch they've had in years.

I'm not saying I like their tactics or support their inability to stock items that people want, but this is the first launch I can recall where they actually gave out accurate pre-order times in advance, and adhered closely to the shipping times/dates.

The demand is certainly higher then what they are able to produce right now. Of course, this could be faulty planning. Or — more likely — it could be low availability of components (CPU, display). I am a little puzzled to what alternatives you people would suggest. Not launch at all?
Yes. Why announce if you arent ready for launch. Apple thinks Mac users are disposable but you meed a mac to make apps for the other devices.

I hear ya, but there should be a little more transparency. It wouldn't kill them to communicate these issues to the public and their staff. My main grievance is not aimed at the delay itself, but more towards how it is being handled.

This I wholeheartedly agree to. A bit more transparency (in many areas) would be great. They should have communicated that the initial supply would be low and some waiting times should be expected. Of course, I am not a business professional, so maybe there is something wrong with this kind of transparency from the business management standpoint.

This, on the other hand, I find ridiculous. A product I get in a month is better in my book than no product at all. I don't get this 'I want it all and I want it now' mentality.

Apple definitely doesn't want my business. There's nothing they make that I would want to buy and there hasn't been since 2006. However, they do want the mass public's business and aim their product lines that way.

Well, good thing there's a website dedicated to a company who doesn't offer any products you want for you to, um, talk about things you don't care about?

I'm not quite clear on the last part, but clearly there must be something here for you...

IApple used to be thankful for any business they could get. Now that they are on top they have an almost hostile attitude towards early adopters.
So Apple has one bad Mac launch, and now they "have an almost hostile attitude towards early adopters"? Really?

This was a bad launch. Apple's had them before with iPhones. Disappointing to see one involving a Mac launch, but it seems a little far fetched to move this from "Apple made a mistake" to "Apple did this on purpose to punish early adopters".

If anything, it seems like some early adopters have put Apple on a pedestal of perfection, and are having a tantrum because Apple wasn't perfect this time.

How many times have we seen Apple users chastising MSFT and Samsung for promising to release a product... I always hear people on this forum saying things like "<insert Google, MSFT here> don't get it. Apple does an announce and release strategy" as if they have their noses in the air.

Apple didn't want my business, but Best Buy sure did!

:highfive:

And if a head doesn't quietly roll over this Charlie Foxtrot of a launch, it will signal that this is how they'll roll out new products from here on out. Guess they figured out during the iPhone6 launch that people will patiently wait in line with cash in hand for a new item. I never figured it would be this bad for a freakin' laptop.

what Apple needs to do now is to have an open letter of apology for this horrid of a launch. More time they hide in their ivory tower pretending everything is fine. More people will get annoyed with not even a display model.
