working out.

that's pretty much it really.
I actually would prefer not to be bothered about trivial notifications.

I have a pebble and use it everyday, I had a Fitbit and only stopped using it when I got my pebble, find it uncomfortable to wear something on both wrists.

So yeah it's pretty much a given that I will get one of these at this point.

The pebble is particularly useful when I'm on my bike and I very much look forward to the Apple watch making that experience better.

The prices have me worried. I can see paying up to 500$ for this but much more especially for a 1st generation device is going to be hard to justify.

I want the Watch model but might end up getting the Sports watch because of the cost.

I was excited for the Apple watch in the months leading up to it (not as excited as I was for the Moto 360). I tried out the LG G watch just to see if I had any actual function for it. Negative. None whatsoever. As a person who works in the automotive industry where we're not even permitted to wear watches on the floor, that leaves me to wear it outside of work. Thats still pointless to me since I go home and I just keep my phone around me. Let's be real here, there is no actual need for this watch. It's simply an expensive accessory (nothing wrong if you have the money to throw at it). I was looking forward to the NFC payments from the watch, but since its a locked down NFC (hopefully not for long), its pointless. I'm by no means part of the iSheep (I still use my HTC One M8 along with my iPhone 6....speakers unmatched and the smoothest android phone ive used), So I can have an unbiased opinion and say that the Apple Watch is ugly as sin and theres no real need for it.

1. The heart rate data
2. Payment with older 5 phones
3. running without the phone as a nano ipod (music)
4. Glances while I'm coding or working I don't want to take my phone out. Let VIPs hit my watch and I can just make a note later or actually acknowledge an important text and pull the phone out.
5. Controlling apple tv and homekit without getting out and waking up your phone.

That's it. A few of those combined enough for me, but if none fit your fancy just wait until a compelling watchkit app appears.

I'm interested in the health functioning of it, but admittedly my fitbit does quite well. I won't be a launch day adopter but I'll get it eventually. Maybe the 2nd iteration.

I have a Pebble watch and use it mostly for notifications. When I'm driving or busy at work I can at a quick glance read them and decide if I need to respond immediately or later. Also being able to ignore calls (spam - ugh) right away is very nice.

Additionally the Apple Watch will be nice for controlling Apple TV. Also having the full color emoji font will be helpful.

It's a convenient luxury.

I'm upgrading to the iPhone 6+ and I'll usually keep it in my bag or suitcase. I'm almost always using a bluetooth headset, so my interest in the watch is to see easily who's calling before I pick up.

I'm also interested in the haptic feedback for directions, as it will help me keep my face out of my phone while I'm walking somewhere.

If you're almost always using a Bluetooth headset the direction navigation info is already being spoken directly into your ear, which is greatly superior to haptic communication.

Frankly 3 and 5 are decent ideas but you can use the Message app on Mac to receive text notifications.

I won't buy this version of the Apple Watch because it is designed to be used along with a phone.

But this is just a glimpse of the future. Eventually they will make a watch that can do everything on its own. Then they have my attention.

Yep. I have a FitBit Force now, which I love, but I am very excited about the Apple Watch. Does all the stuff my Fitbit does, and plays music, and gives turn by turn directions, and all the other functionality in conjunction with my phone. Can't wait to get it.

So that's why they keep increasing the size of the phones. To make us buy a smaller companion device. I look forward to the Apple Watch Mini which will require Apple Watch which wil require an Apple iPhone. :p
About the only time I wear a watch is when I am out with my girlfriend. She usually wants to know the time at some point and I get tired of pulling out my 4s. It will be worse with a 6 plus.

I would love using it for controlling music on my iPhone, Appletv, and iTunes. I have Airplay devices in nearly every room, but I usually need to have my phone with me to control it. It would also be nice for docking my iPhone at work and using the watch to skip songs, pause, etc.

The fitness, homekit possibilities, weather, watch, timers for cooking, email, Siri, calendar, notifications, etc... Also, it is much more discreet than having a phone out. I would use it a lot. I even like the way it looks. However, I am still not sure I can justify that price. As was mentioned, I can do the same stuff with my phone, even if it is less discreet and often more inconvenient. I am currently on the fence about it.

I just have a genuine "want" for the AppleWatch.

I don't see a need for any accessory by most people or myself, it's definitely a want but I will also definitely use the tap and easy reply functions and having a quick glance at my weekly schedule will be nicer than now. I feel like I'm always checking my phone for some new tidbit of info throughout the day.

Instead of repeating many of the use cases that I've read here, I'll add a new one.

It will ring an alarm on your phone if you can't find it. I would hope for a siri command "Where's my phone" and your iPhone will start beeping. Sure this is possible through find my iPhone on an iPad/Mac, but that's usually as much or or effort than just finding your phone. So is usually only done as a last resort after 5+ minutes of searching.

Yeah, to see my text messages without having to take this BIG iPhone 6+ out of my pocket ;)

I had the Pebble and gave it to my son when I received my OMate Dumbwatch. That was a mistake. The pebble did just fine for showing notifications. The omate never got the firmware running like they stated and it does not do BLE or notifications. Can't wait for the aWatch.

Knowing glucose monitoring was a fantasy, i was really pumped on that rumor being a type I diabetic. Totally would have sold me being able to so conveniently check my blood sugar.

I'm sure people are going to come up with a lot of justifications.
Just like for iPhone, iPad, Macs, etc.

I wear a Fitbit everyday to make sure I'm hitting my daily walking quota, so I'm really excited about that part of the Apple watch, as well as being able to walk away from but still know when I'm getting better a call or a message. I can't wait from this product!

Well, so I don't have to get the huge slab of a phone I just got out while out and risk dropping it. Use the watch so I can get the phone out later when I'm sitting or at least not in a position to drop it.

The watch is the only reason I'm trying the gigataphone:D otherwise I would have got the 4.7.

Wish I didn't have to wait 5 months, I would pay double to have it now!

I see a lot of work uses coming down the road.

Nurses using it to log pulses.
Restaraunts using them to notify staff that food is ready.
Dr. paging systems in hospitals.

I work in some cold weather and my phone is buried under a lot of layers. I miss all my calls and texts but a watch will make it easier to respond I hope.

Beyond novelty watch faces which I'm sure look great animated, I see no actual functionality in owning an Apple Watch.

Personally the 'act and look like an old-fashioned timepiece' aspect of smart watches does not appeal to me at all.

It is all the other things devices like that offers that interests me, which is why I would prefer a form factor that is suited to that. I don't care at all if it actually looks like a watch.

Beyond novelty watch faces which I'm sure look great animated, I see no actual functionality in owning an Apple Watch. 90% of the reason I'd want one is for the design and the coolness factor of early adopters.

Does anyone have a usage beyond this to justify paying $349+?

Because they like it and want it.

The same as any $350+ watch.

If you are asking people to justify "genuine" uses for things, then any watch other than a $10 Casio becomes unjustifiable.

Watches are even more "fashion" items than phones. The most I have ever paid for a watch is $150 - that doesn't mean more expensive watches aren't justifiable, though.

Up until very recently, I found it hard to conceptualize a Smart Watch becoming an integral component in my gadget lineup. Some of these inherent feelings were in part due to the current smart wearables on the market who had failed to really enhance neither the communicative nor the time telling attributes they touted. Instead, they more less ended up defining themselves as contrived pieces of tech in my eyes.

However, Apple seems to have found a way to finally make the Smart Watch relevant. In my profession, I heavily rely on my phone to keep in contact with my associates. It's also a faced paced enterprise though and sometimes burying my face in a text or holding a device to my ear isn't always the most conducive way to operate. Given how seamlessly the watch appears to integrate with the iPhone, I can clearly perceive how handy it's going to be for me to quickly and efficiently handle calls and messages.

And quite honestly, the other fifty percent of the time I pull out my phone, is to assess the time. Add to the fact that it's arguably one of the chicest Smart Watches currently on the market (I'm smitten with the Edition line), and I can certainly foresee my phone collecting dust on a busy work day whilst I sport the Apple Watch.

It also on some level solves many of the social issues that are derived from handling cell phones; it essentially enhances one's ability to be discreet.
