So basically first have new iPhone shipped with the phone cellular provider deal then personally bring my old iPhone to Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile (whoever my provider is) and get bill credits toward my new iPhone ?

Forgot to add as long as I have the plan that is necessary too for it to work.

You mean a trade in? Best thing to do is talk to the carrier you intend to connect to.

This is exactly what I did with AT&T. I had 30 days to turn my old phone in to an AT&T corporate store.

just need to check the carrier site but likely yes... We always trade in our iphones to verizon, new one ships as well as packaging to return the old one within ~2 weeks or something which is then credited to future bills.
