People have made a big fuss about very particular edge cases. When I had installed the Public Beta I was surprised how nice it looked and how well it worked. After reading the comments online I had expected to see a mess.

Sure, they need to do some further work to refine it. But I find it very pretty and even delightful. Especially the lock screen on my iPad is often stunning. It cycles through my nature photos and combined with the "morphing" clock, it can look so good that I actually take a screenshot of it.

I'm less sure about macOS. But I will eventually get used to it. It just doesn't have the same Wow factor for me. And maybe I also like my work device a bit more restraint. But luckily, you can adjust some of the effects. I've done that already in the past to make the Mac a bit more minimalistic.
What’s the morphing clock, is that where it resizes?

I don’t know why but the “nature” photos my iPad finds are limited compared to how many I actually have. It’s a few photos of the sea, and totally ignores the desert and Grand Canyon

Overall pretty directionally positive on my side. Really rough start with my iPad but otherwise nice changes.

I think the 'I loathe IOS 26' thread will have varying opinions, the thread title alone doesn't mean 13 pages of people agree with OP.

It's not perfect but I see it as a net positive. as always ymmv

This isn't the worst x.0 release we've gotten by a country mile. It's not the best, either.

I think it also doesn’t help that a lot of threads are from the betas, which obviously have a lot more issues.

I will say I’m fine with the UI changes under the hood and I do really like certain things like the custom messages backgrounds but Liquid Glass as a thematic style is really bad, nothing like how gorgeous and revolutionary iOS 7 was imho.

iOS7 is what made me switch from Android to iPhone and I’ve never been back to Android since!

I’m sure with time Liquid Glass will get better or be changed!

Hoping they can really improve certain UI elements especially the media/video player controls. Nothing about this style feels glass like at all to me. I loved iOS 7 immediately but this needs a lot of work.

I think in 3 months OS26 will be polished. It offers good features and enhancements but has a few rough UI and UX decisions to reconsider. The more feedback, the better.

Like many others, I expected a hot mess that would need patching by disabling features left and right. But I was pleasantly surprised. I don’t dismiss legitimate criticism (and there’s plenty of it around here), but I think iOS 26 is a solid start—and I’m already curious about the refinements Apple might roll out over the next few years. Apple Intelligence may have missed the mark, but iOS 26 feels like it’s on track to hit it.

Speaking of which, one of the features I really like is the ability to take a screenshot and then either find products, related images, or identify landmarks. I tested this on a photo of a place I visited in Europe last year, and it used ChatGPT to tell me what it was, where it was, and how to get there. This will be extremely useful.

Must be a glitch , I just went through all my app icons and all are crystal clear
A lot of my 3rd party applications have blurry icons (on my iPhone 15 pro, LinkedIn, DeepL, Google Docs etc). I would guess that they have shipped without all the correct icon resolutions and there's some crappy upscaling at work. Hopefully will get fixed in due time.

I really hate liquid glass. The blur effect make legibility significantly worse. Turned off however there's an improvement on most things (although when in nighttime mode the lock screen clock is now illegible and I keep getting confused by the alarm time, which is very legible). It doesn't feel that snappy on my iPhone 15 pro.

On my m4 iPad Pro it's nice and snappy, and I've kept the liquid glass blur effect for now to see if I can get used to it. It does seem to result in more blurred text and icons (even where the text shouldn't be blurred).

I'm slowly getting used to the changes to my most used apps:
- Safari seems entirely an improvement so far (took me a moment to realise how to get access to tab groups on my phone
- Windowing on iPad seems very well thought out and is a big QoL improvement
- Music actually seems less ensh*tified for the first time in ages (for the first time it remembers I don't use Apple Music and defaults to library)
- They haven't made notes or todos unusable 😅

I use google for mail and calendar as it behaves much better with multiple google accounts (and I do advisory work with a bunch of companies, who mostly use google for business). I use Signal (primarily) and WhatsApp (if I absolutely have to). I very rarely use messages.

I've also now worked out how to make the lock screen clock legible (i.e. turn off the glass effect).

I do like it. It’s a refreshing change, it seems performant, and stable. I haven’t encountered any bugs so far.

However the battery impact on my 16P has been unreal. I don’t have any “background process” notifications in my battery settings, but the battery is depleting at an incredibly higher rate than 18.6.2 . If this doesn’t stabilize in the next couple of days (I.e. go back to where it was ), I may have to downgrade.

Not sure if I’ll run into problems since I’ve upgraded my AWU to 26 already.

I only have an iPad and MacBook Pro ATM, until Friday anyway, but it looks better in person, than the images videos that I saw. See through glass icons can do one though.

I'm enjoying the look of it. The Liquid Glass kind of feels like rubber and it's fun to stretch some of the buttons, especially on the iPad where you can really pull one of them across an external display. I think the glass effect looks pretty, I really like it when scrolling over things with a lot of color, really shines in the Podcasts app.

One of my biggest complaints is that I think I'd still prefer words like "Done" on the keyboard instead of a giant check mark or whatever, three months later it still throws me off a bit.

I don't mind it. Once I learnt a few of the 'new' ways of doing things, the new design plays no real part of my iPhone experience. I use my phone, by interacting with the apps on it, not staring and playing with the iOS, which in essence, is like the wallpaper of my bedroom.

I'm now on day 3. I'm finding myself pining for some of the old UI back: I don't like the pop-up menu in Safari to access tabs, and initially, swiping across tab groups at the bottom wasn't obvious. Also not sold on the new camera layout-even though the options are all the same, it feels like it's lost the technical element. I know it hasn't, I just don't like it.

Overall though, I'm ok with it. I like the change to Photos-having the tab to flick between your camera roll and then all the options/other folders, has tidied that up; I don't find myself longing for Photos on iOS17 any more  I've yet to find out if there is a way to disable icons in Mail for example, I like my inbox to look compact-the icons add unnecessary bulk and space everything out. But, it is just nit picking.

I haven't sat and had a real 'play' with it so-to-speak: I'm upgrading my phone on Saturday, so updated to 26 so there is one less hurdle when setting up.

I'm holding off on My Mac for now-and only updated my Watch to enable some of the features tied into my phone-I'm not sold on elements of my Watch yet either. However, as with all major change, I know it'll take time, and in a few months when I come to update my parents phone, I'm sure iOS18 will look and feel ancient 😂

I'm liking it but it's killing my 16 pro max battery. 5 hours took me from 85% tp 14%%. I listened to music and took photos in that time period.

Ya after using this phone for a week on iOS 26 , I def notice the battery loss , it’s not crazy but it’s def noticeable.

I personally hated a lot of the changes on iOS18 and regretted updating my 12 Mini but had to deal with it anyways as I upgraded to the 15pro , got over my dislikes with it , mainly the photos app.

I see a lot of hate here for iOS26 but I actually like it , seems snappier , like the changes to messages , phone app , photos app getting library(replaces camera roll removal from iOS18), home screen , CarPlay , and other little things.

What are your thoughts on iOS26
I generally like it but for some reason I have the feeling that the resolution of some design elements like icons is a bit off, a bit pale. I have the same feeling with MacOS.
