I find myself thinking about how I might live without a cell phone more and more. It's an iPhone, and I find that it tends to be very distracting--particularly texting. It used to be texting was so difficult on flip phones that I didn't get texts very often and didn't send out that many. Now, everyone has an Android or an iPhone and texting is very easy--so people overuse it.
I have a few friends who literally will text me 6 or 7 times before we meet up for simple social gathering.
1. "Where are you going tonight?"
2. "Is so and so coming?"
3. "What time are you gonna be there?"
4. "I'm getting on the subway now"
5. "I just got off the subway"
6. "I'm two blocks away"
7. "I'm here, where are you standing?"
Very annoying. After about the 3rd text I usually lose my patience and stop responding but the stupid phone still vibrates and I still check it--because someone else might be texting me. I'm starting to hate it--might downgrade to a dumb phone when my contract is up.
