I would not want to have just one or the other.
The iPhone is great for work where I couldn't use the iPad, but when I get home it's great to sit back and step up to the iPad and relax. The two complement each other perfectly.
Definitely using my iPhone 4 way more then my iPad. The iPad killed my iPhone 3g in daily use but the iPhone 4 just feels like a such a easier, faster more polished device then the iPad. iOS 4.2 should put them on a even playing ground.
Devices complement each other with games that use the iPhone as a controller, when your iPhone battery dies you can never kill the iPad's battery.
My contract with verizon is running out soon and i was thinking of the iPhone. I already own the iPad which I like to read on and watch movies and hulu. Does anyone own both? What have you found to be the benefits of owning both? Thanks.
The iPad is my preferred device I am 52 and reading an iPhone is too hard even with the retina display. However, ther are times when the iPhone shines you can take it anywhere and if yountake your specs it is still the best phone browser and the camera is phenominal (particularly for video) even if the iPad had a camera you would choose the iphone to take photographs. My dilemma is do I buy one of the new MBA offerings, I can see a place for the 11.6 inch version in there too, I travel a lot and weight is important and the iPad has solved most of my travel issues but!!!!!!. Got a mac mini plugged into my tv and an iMac for writing when I am at home. Need to buy a nano for when i go jogging. Got to love apple they produce phenomenal machines and hit every sweet spot!!!!
I own both, iPhone 4 and iPad 3G 32GB.
I must say that although I am super impressed with the iPad, the iPhone is so good that it prevents me from using the iPad, even at home, where I don't have a computer or wireless internet.
I take the iPhone everywhere, cause it's a phone. Anything the iPad can do the iPhone does as well, just smaller. But it is more practical.
U are right. I have my iPhone 4, an iPad 3G 32GB for Home computing, since I don't have wireless there, an iPod Nano Video in my car, just for an additional source of music, an iPod shuffle for working out and a Mac Pro 12-Core for my Professional Photography work. Phenomenal machines for anything u might need.
I am also tempted about the new Mac Book Air 11"... The iPad is neat but very limited compared to a Mac Book. I might get one if it becomes available and the rumors are correct...
Cheers
