While i was deadset on matte black, i now have 7plus JB, and let me tell you, it feels absolutely bomb in your hand without a case. For me, that alone outweighs the cons of easy scratch-ability. Dont listen to people who say that JB is slippier than other colors, it is absolutely false. Trust me i know a thing or two about iphones and had them all since day one.
Reminds me of the glory days of iphone 3g, which was polished plastic of course.

Got a JB 256GB 7 (all out!) and decided to go caseless.

Day 2, my phone flew out of my hand and scratched the **** out of the coating, even scratching parts of it completely off.

Now wishing I had a matte black iPhone in my case instead of my Jet Black, which I'm sure is being scratched to ****.

I got a small scratch on mine the first day and I barely used it. I was extremely careful with it.

Don't care. Jet black still looks the best even with scratches.

If your phone coating scratched off to the point you saw the aluminum, it must have flown out pretty hard and fast, in which case the same thing would happen to any other color variation like it did with my SG 6S+ and SG 6+.

JB may have issues with scratches being "more visible" (not easier to scratch), but the matte blacks have issues with the finish actually chipping off from normal use. Checked out my friend's and a few displays in an Apple store and the coating near the lightning ports were chipped to the point you saw the aluminum.

Agree! A friend of mine dropped his once and it chipped bad. Contrary to popular belief, it does attract fingerprints and ends up looking pretty dingy. Both blacks present issues with finish. Hope Apple gets it right with 8 and uses ceramic. I'd be willing to pay more and not worry.
