I got my first Mac Mini, iPod Shuffle and PSP through these.

How it works is that you sign up, complete an "offer" (almost all used to be free trials that try and make it hard to cancel). Your account has a referral link and you give that out to sign people up under you. They sign up and complete an offer and it helps you. You have to get a certain amount of referrals based on the cost of the product.

The reason these things work is because many people don't finish, so the company makes money off of those who get halfway complete.

I got my Macbook Pro through one of those. It was back when they were first coming out and not many people knew about them. Nowadays they are a lot more difficult to complete.

When I did it I had to complete something like 15 offers, but most of them were free trials etc. that you can cancel before being charged. Now that most companies know about these programs, there is a 60 or 90 day wait period between signing up, and that offer showing up as complete. This wait period is longer than the free trial so you have to pay for the service, meaning you still pay a lot for whatever you are doing the offers for.

I think I ended up paying $150 for a (at the time) $2000 laptop.

So yes they do work, but they are a lot of work.

Im on the same boat as you. I did one of these a while back when you can cancel your free trials before they were up and it would still count. I spent about $175 and got a 37" Panasonic Plasma TV (Which I still use) and an XBOX 360. I also did it for my mom and got her a laptop. Admittedly, it took a lot of time and you had to make a lot of phone calls and be on top of everything to make sure things got cancelled and you did not go over your trial period but being in college and having plenty of free time I would say that it was well worth it. I used a prepaid credit card to pay/sign up for everything just in case I hit a scam and i created a new email address so that I didn't continue to get spam after i finished. Its a shame they caught onto how people were getting away with paying minimal for legitimation good items...

it definetely works, I made did an offer, where you have to sign up to an online website creation website. And the http://apple.freebiejeebies.co.uk/536561 website confirmed my offer was successful... I figured if I create several spam email adresses. I could do this several times, to get 'referrals'.

It Works

It works, I've had an iPod Touch (4th Gen) 8GB for 10 referrals. If you want cash it's £17 per person who goes though the 'system' and £20 per person to go towards a referral. For a Mac it's something like 40 referrals.

The concept works by the fact they get paid for advertising, however, this is done by doing the offers. Because they make vast sums because of it they can afford to pay us with gifts, such as Apple [:apple:] products and keep the remaining profit. So, we do the hard work because everyone thinks it's a scam and we have to disprove it.
