Does anyone use auto brightness?

I have e problem with my iPhone 4....

changed it yesterday with e new one at the apple store...

well this one on 4.3.5 and 5.0 has problems with the brightness...


It can be set stable!!!!!

set on 50% and auto OFF and keeps changing!

is this an 5.0 bug?

Yes, always have. When I first installed iOS5 on my iPhone 4, the auto brightness was ridiculous. I restored the phone to iOS5 again and now it works awesome.

I've actually experienced better battery life turning it off and setting brightness at a set level... such as 40% +/-

Well you should see a battery improvement with it off.

I've never changed the setting, so I don't know what it defaults to.

I use it because it makes the phone comfortable to use whether I am in pitch darkness or direct sunlight. It has worked well for me.

Nah, I always read it was terrible for battery life. I guess that's not true anymore? i.e. it would take a lot of juice constantly adjusting, etc.
