Samsung wasn't having issues until this one. And I would call antenna gate a major issue.

never had any problems. and my mother is still using my release day iphone4 without a case and without any issues.
this still feels like an overhyped non-issue to me.
or maybe we just got amazing cell reception in switzerland ;)

I never waited to get all the new models but i will wait for this one since ive missed the pre order and also want the Jet black model.

I don't think there's too much sense in waiting. I did wait for a few months after the iPad air 2 was released hoping that the screen distortion issue was fixed. When I purchased it I checked the build date and it was very close to when the model was originally released and still had the distortion issue. I ended up taking it back because of a dark book spine on the screen.

So now I have a refurbished air 2 and it was also built around release date and it's pretty great.

So yeah I don't see much pout as nothing is guaranteed.

I think antenna gate was slightly blown out of proportion. Also it didn't affect the phone's overall performance.

No. With Apple you pretty much know what you're going to get and I'm ok with that. If it's a software big they will quickly push out an update and it its hardware related Apple will replace the device without hesitation so I'm not worried at all.

Well note 7 buyers probably should have waited.
Many of us ended up with windfalls by returning the phones - Samsung let us keep the freebies, I got a free Gear Fit 2 and Target gave me a $200 gift card for a used phone I paid $50 for to trade in. We also got to keep the $100 preorder Target gift card. And then there was the $20 Samsung Pay rewards card we got.

So I got a free Gear Fit 2, $250 in Target gift cards, and $20 from Samsung Pay!

LOL! It did if you used the phone as a phone, lol!

I generally don't buy a device on launch day, because I dislike the lines at Apple stores and don't want to deal with the drama of uncertain delivery dates.

Unless I need a new device right away (for example to replace a broken phone) I will wait until things calm down and then buy when I can walk into a store without hassle.

But what about the deals with the carriers at launch. (This year is a free 7/7+ with $650 in credits w/trade in of 6/6s on installments) If you wait, you won't get the deal anymore and it also pushes you farther out, so if you want like say the 8 on launch, you will have to wait if you are on an installment plan or contract or have to PIF

*For the 6 launch, they gave me $200 for a 4S. It was a great deal* I suppose there might be a few deals at Black Friday or around Christmas though

Just wondering if anybody waits before purchasing a new phone to see if there are any bugs that need to be worked out? I've never bought a phone when it first comes out just in case there are any issues that arise. I've always wondered if there's any merit to that. Or if I'm the only one who does that. I don't mind waiting an extra month if it means some of the kinks will be worked out and it gives me a little bit of time to see if I do in fact want to upgrade. Anyway just wondering what people's opinions are.
Thanks
Devin
After reading about all of the trouble people are having getting their reservations for an update to the 7 (i.e. for those that purchased the 6s last year under the iPhone update plan and are now trying to update to a 7)....perhaps another benefit of waiting a month or two after launch to buy an iPhone using the IUP is that once your 12 payments are up and you're ready to update there will likely be plenty of reservation dates to choose from for the 2017 launch/update (i.e. Since your update then would be a couple of months after launch....after the initial mad rush)....so you end up not paying a couple of extra months "lease" on last years phone while waiting for a reservation.

Oh but I do. In the United States, it is a federal requirement that refurbished or reconditioned products are advertised as such. If I am given a refurbished device without being notified that it is refurbished - big problems (and not mine).
Hmm, never seen or heard of that law. Can you provide a source for that?

Most certainly. It's called deception.

This code relates to the sale of automobile parts. However, this definition of deception could be used across multiple industries and may lay the basis for other statutes such as the following which applies to all consumer goods:

Thanks. The only issue with these, is that they are talking about the sale of an item, not a replacement that you are not paying for. I would absolutely have a fit if I bought a new iPhone that was in fact refurbished, but since I am NOT paying for the replacement, they are probably well within their rights to replace your broken iPhoone with a refurbished model, as long as the warranty is still intact.

I wait a couple months or so to buy new/re-up my plan. Usually the carriers increase their promotion goodies once the initial wave of buyers get theirs.

I've always purchased via pre-order for launch day. My iPhone 6+ was infected with the "Touch disease". Apple ended up replacing the screen for free to see if it would fix it. Didn't fix it and ended up giving me a new one for free as well after that didn't work. All outside of warranty (not far though).

That is a valid point and I would love to find out what the requirements of the vendor are in that situation. I'll talk with some buddies of mine and see what they have to say.

Didn't get one this year, but wife did. I am going to give the adapter a go on my 6s plus (assuming it works; it should I think) and see how long it lasts. Apple cables just fall apart on me. I imagine this thing won't last two months in the gym. Maybe I am pleasantly surprised.
Yep - whats that about given they already cost an arm and a leg. I end up with 3rd party charging cables in the end as its cheaper. Probably the same will happen with these adapters especially given the added risk of losing them! Wonder if any decent 3rd party adapters are available already?
