I find it extremely useful. I was getting mad before when they didnt include it....

If you are on a call with someone, and that someone asks you for a number of somebody else, YOU CANT if you use the phone app (you cannot check numbers with the phone app while on a call).... this is where the contacts app comes in handy.

THANK YOU APPLE. <3 :apple:

It always make me sad when people don't know how to use their phones...

Apple should allow us to maybe delete one or two icons that are not used mainly. I don't even think it should go through iTunes, it should just be a setting under settings. I mean I rarely use the clock app or calender. But then again some people might, so :apple: should definitely give us the option don't you guys think? Just lock the essentials like phone, iPod, Mail, Settings and I would bet thats it. Some people might not even use SMS or the Camera. Help us out :apple: , give us more room for you apps :D

Just so you all know... Since day 1 of jailbroken 2.0 you have been able to hide apps. I didn't get the SMS plan so I hid SMS, and then replaced some apps.

Hid Weather for Weatherbug
Hid Stocks for Bloomberg
Hid Settings for BossPrefs(And put regular settings in the dock inside BossPrefs)

If you want to do this on a jailbroken phone, you can do it with BossPrefs, or with Poof. Poof only hides and shows apps, BossPrefs does it and much more useful settings.

I think it would be quite dangerous to allow you to hide or even delete apps. This is un-apple like and leads to inconsistencies in the user experience. The clock contains the phone's nice alarm clock functions, which couldn't really be better in my opinion. The weather and stocks are less useful but then you can always hide them on one of the sub pages. You never know when you're going to get a text SMS so imagine of you receive one and then can't find the app! I think it is more intuitive to have a separate contacts app because it does feel weird to go via the phone to add an email to a contact for example. The contacts obviously have to be in the phone app though, much like a version of the Address Book is incorpoated into Mac OS X Mail.

Hiding apps isn't a big deal if you have a way to get to them. I tried having the page at the end with apps I didn't want, but the look is... un Apple... So I have an app launcher where I can launch all my hidden apps. As far as getting an SMS message, if I did get one I'd still get the notification. This is not relevant though because I've chosen the Opt-out from SMS by ATT so I won't ever get them :D

yeah you could

ughh how about the fact that while in a call there is a contacts button?

Contacts app is an absolute waste of space indeed. Why not have an option to switch it on or off. I'd ditch it altogether. It's not needed. It's as useless as splitting iPod app into iPod Music and iPod Videos.

Hacked mine initially for use of Poof, then realised that there is so much more you can do once you hack it.

The contacts button is right there while you're in the middle of a phone call...

..... i meant, you CANT check the numbers of the contacts. You just can tap and call somebody else. But if you wanted to check the number of someone you couldnt....

Wow... im not a retard you know? i probably know more about the iphone than most of you in this thread...
