I'll volunteer for the second in Q3-Q4 2010! :D I mean, why not? Just maybe Gulftown will be out by then, we have to see some interesting stuff come down the pipe!

I think it has more to do with the various hardware incompatabilties. Say, didn't EFI 1.1 MacPros have non-PCI-E-2.0 slots? Along with "32-bit" Xeon processors? I was under the impression, I will repeat myself; correct me if I am wrong.

At anyrate, as long as we don't get wind of PCI-E 2.1 or 3.0 slots coming off the line.....

They are a 64bit processor :) I thought that the slots were just slots and the firmware decided the rest? Otherwise I could always attempt surgery with one of the guys at work(I work as part of an onsite support team, i am going into my third month of a traineeship but one of the guys is awesome with hardware)

32-Bit Xeons?!? :) :) :) http://developer.apple.com/document...0906_arch.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40004479

Also the 2006/07 Mac Pros have four internal, 2.5 GHz, PCI Express links connected to the North Bridge and South Bridge ICs. The PCI Express slots are system and user configurable for 06/07 models. The Mac Pro’s standard configuration is one 16-lane, double-wide graphics slot, two 4-lane expansion slots, and one 1-lane expansion slot. Mac Pro 2008 and prior models implement PCI-E revision 2.0. Slots 1 and 2 are both x16 revision 2.0 slots. Slots 3 and 4 are both x4 revision 1 (version 1.1) slots. Placing a revision 1 card in a revision 2.0 slot, or visa-versa, is supported and results in a revision 1 link. There's a 300W combined maximum for all PCI Express slots on all mac pros. The bandwidth allocation of the PCI-E slots can be configured via the Expansion Slot Utility included with Mac OS X only on the 2006/07 Mac Pros. The 2008 Mac Pro has its slots hardwired.

On the 2009 models slots 1 and 2 are x16, PCI Express 2.0 slots. Slots 3 and 4 are x4, PCI Express 2.0 slots. And all four slots can support 16-lane cards.

Here are the 2006 and 2008 (respectively) system block diagrams side by side just for fun:

Thanks for the info, again, Tesselator. I just knew there were some 1.1 slots in the 06/07 models - and I was theorizing with my chemist-minded head what was going on with my limited knowledge about computers - I was thinking that the EFI updates had something to do with the hardware, not laziness on Apple's part; although I'm beginning to incline toward the inveitable fact.

In my opinion Apple doesen't care about us PRO users anymore... all those features in the new macbooks and iMacs... and we don't have any of that
I mean I really want new PRO keyboards (Remeber those big fat and HEAVY keyboards, those where awesome) and also multitouch support (external multitouch pad maybe?) and they haven't changed the mac Pro design in years... also... the 30" studio Monitor was awesome, but I can only laugh at the 24" LED crap, I want that but in 30" ...

I really started turning to other companies when it comes to peripherals like mouse, keyboard screen .... but I miss Apple design :( where is something for the PRO Users???

Umm...it seems like all of these are somewhat answered by Tallest Skill, pro users don't care about looks, rather performance, plenty of third party companies do everything you want, and so? Some of it will match some of it won't, but it will work...
