I got an iPod Nano for Christmas and I really don't have any use for it. Does the Apple store take it for some type of refund/credit/exchange?

Thanks.

You'll need to either have the original receipt or a 'gift receipt' to make a return to Apple. If you don't have that, ask whoever gave it to your for the receipt.

You can always sell the iPod yourself.

Apple Sales Policies said:
For any other product, simply return it with the original receipt (or gift receipt) and original packaging within 14 days of the date you receive the product. If the item is returned within this timeframe, we’ll exchange it or offer a refund based upon the original payment method. For returns to an Apple Retail Store for cash, cash equivalent, and check transactions over $250, Apple will mail a refund check to you within 10 business days.

You can return stuff to Apple without a receipt and you will get a gift card.

I have done so a few times.
Apple must have updated their policies. I can't see why Apple would let you return an item without a receipt, for all they know you may have stolen the item.

Holiday Return Policy

Items purchased at an Apple Retail Store between October 29, 2011, and December 25, 2011, may be returned with an original receipt or Gift Receipt through January 9, 2012. If the item is returned in the original box, with the original packaging, we will exchange it or offer you an Apple Gift Card. Refunds will be granted through January 9, 2012 only when an original purchase receipt is provided and will be based solely on the original method of payment.

This holiday return policy does not apply to iPhone or wireless service contracts. All other Apple Retail Store purchase policies apply and your statutory rights are not affected.

OK, it looks like it can be returned up to Jan 9 at the location where it was purchased for gift-card/exchange.

I called them and gave them the serial number. The interesting thing is that they can only check if it was purchased at that store. But the "cashier" is the only person that can check where else it was purchased if not at said store. But I convinced them to give the cashier my email and check for me.
