Does FileVault hurt MB performance?

I'm looking to get either a 2016 or 2017 MB, and am wondering if FileVault creates any noticeable issues on the 12" MB

Anecdotally, the performance is even acceptable to me on a MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015) (Good) with FV2 enabled.

I have enabled it on my 12" rMB (2016) and I have notice no performance impact at all.
