Does the watch feel like a 1. gen product in daily usage?
The AW is great in everyday use. It does the key things I expected it to do pretty well, like giving me message notifications, meeting alerts, and weather info (Dark Sky is awesome). I like interactive activity trackers, and it does that pretty well. I am disappointed in the fitness abilities and the immaturity of the supporting mobile and web apps for activity and fitness, but I knew about that before I bought it. I do not get the vitriol against the watch in this and other threads.

I am not being a jerk when I say that this is a circular question, and that you are asking the wrong thing. It is a first gen product, and Apple (in my experience) historically takes many iterations and years before they get the software tuned. So, the real question should be something like "does the AW do what you want in everyday use?"

Of the people i "personally" know who had one, 4 of the 5 returned them - the 1, is an apple employee and they got a massive discount (over and above the normal discount). I also returned mine, so thats 5 out of 6 got returned.. thats not "lying".. thats reality!
I personally know 5 people who have an Apple Watch. All 5 still love it, so the real reality is that 100% of people in the entire world who bought the watch still love it!

Honestly, my biggest problem with Apple Watch is the horrible lag I get when trying to dictate a reply to a text message. No, not the imaginary lag everyone complains about on these forums. I'm talking legitimate, 100% un-Apple like lag fest.

Other than that, I think it's a great product with a bright future.

Apps launching, including siri, are pretty slow. Too slow to be used without lowering your expectations based on how fast apps launch on the iPhone.

^^ This is honestly one the few notable gripes I can personally attest to - and hopefully it is only software related. The lag is so long and inconsistent that I routinely have to state my message twice or more, or sometimes just go through Siri to avoid. I've noticed this lag in apps, too, so maybe an issue with dictation prompts in Watch OS.

It's really the only thing to make me say "First Gen" because it's the feeling of using iPhone 2G compared to iPhone 6 - the lag on such a common task makes it seem like the hardware can't keep up even though most things run like butter.

Thank you guys for all our inputs.

I know it sounds strange to ask if a 1. gen product feels like a 1. gen product, but that's only because a lot of people criticized the watch for e.g. being slower than expected (I know - this depends on your expectations), and after reading a lot of these posts, it sounded like this product wasn't near finished.
In terms of features and such, I'm aware that there will always be new features, better hardware and stuff in 2. gen, but my question was only ment to clarify, if the general opinion really was, that this product was nearly useless due to bugs in the software or actual hardware limitations (which easily could be the impression you get, when reading peoples reviews).

I know which features the current Apple Watch has, and these features appeal to me. I also have an idea of what NOT to expect, and after reading your posts, I decided to order an AWS online and try it out. In my country we don't have an Apple Store yet, nor a store where you can actually try the watch before buying, which would have been the ideal solution.

Again, thank you for taking the time to post all your responses!
