1. It's not the same tip as the MacBook Air.

2. WHY APPLE WHY?! I hate that they're color/material schemes have gone to hell since the Aluminum transition. The mouse is still plastic, the iMac keyboard are still white and they introduce the ALUMINUM magsafe on the new PLASTIC MacBook while the ALUMINUM MacBook Pros are still stuck with the PLASTIC magsafe -.-' I'm going to pee on my leg. Cut the crap and make it MATCH!

3. If one more of these things fray on me I'm going to demand an aluminum magsafe, why the heck do they prefer thin wires to ones that aren't as frail as a vitamin a-deficient pomeranian.

The Aluminum ones are pretty nice looking...they should ship the same adapters as the MBA with the MBs and MBPs as i think the angled magsafe port looks good and also better for use...i mean the wire wont bend if we keep the macs in places where there is problem of space...

I would hate to have a magsafe on the underside of my laptop. My legs would keep bumping it off or I think it would constantly bug me sitting on my knee.

Yeah. I would much rather just have the new aluminum one that puts the wire to the BACK of the notebook so that when it's in my lap I don't angle it and have it off..no on, no it's off, now it's on oh crap ><

i am not saying that the magsafe should be on the underside...i am just saying that the charger should be like the ones they ship with MBA so that the wire goes back and not on the side...:)

The 45 watt adapter can power and charge my 15" MacBook Pro. I have not tried to charge it using the 45 watt adapter when heavily using the computer, but it definitely does power and charge it.

Yes, it will power and charge (slowly) under certain conditions. However try draining the battery fully, connecting the charger and pressing the power button. Or using it under full CPU/GPU load. It should also struggle to reach 100%.

I've been using a Macbook Air power adapter with my 15" Macbook Pro. It's a lot easier to carry and the design is much better because it sends the cable to the back. It's tidier than it sticking out the side.

It does charge more slowly than with the 85w brick but it's an acceptable tradeoff.

Obviously it would have trouble if I was actually stressing the computer to near full load. I never said it wouldn't, I use the 45 watt charger when I won't be stressing the computer as it is a lot more convenient to carry around. Also, I've used the 45 watt charger to charge it from 90% to 100% before and it worked. The 45 watt charger should be used as a supplement rather than a replacement.

i had to upgrade to the MBP from a Blackbook (i miss that beauty), and was well cheesed that the MBP comes with a 85 watt mag safe.. I had 3 65 watt chargers one at home one at the GFs and one at work. lucky 4 me the 65 watt still charges the pro :). it does take a little longer but i could still play games while the 65 watt charged.. JOY :D

I agree. I'm tired of the all-white accessories. It's been going for long enough, they need to move on to something else.

For reference a difference is that you will not charge your computer if it's on. It takes more time than a little longer for a full charge to occur. For proper use you need the correct adapter.

mine does charge when I am using it with the 45w Air adapter. An estimate of the time difference is about 15% slower to charge during use as compared to the stock adapter charging during use.

Something else ridiculously simple they could do is taper the opening for the connector on the unibody. Every time I plug it in I have to try it 3 or 4 times as it gets hung up on the sharp edge or the magnet "sticks" in at a crooked angle. A bevel to guide it in would fix this very easily.

I agree... or they could just make the magnet smaller/weaker. that way it would only 'stick' when properly seated.
