LOL. Yep, and it's totally worth it. Not a lot of great freeware these days and I appreciate other the work of developers so I don't mind paying. Who likes to work for free? Not me.
I've been using Stats app which is totally free and much better than iStats IMO. That being said, I did dust down my five years old iStats paid upgrade and it still works. Who knew? But I wasn't able to get the Apple weather kit to work as it said I still need to pay for it. What's that all about?

What's that about? Well it's explained right on their website: https://bjango.com/help/istatmenus6/weather/

I have been using the weather widget in the notification centre (which was there by default) and active corner to bring it on the screen. So it's just a matter of moving the pointer to the upper right corner to look at weather/calendar and doesn't require precise clicking on day/time.

I'd love to have a menubar weather display as there's so much free space there. Right now I have an old iPhone on my desk that shows the weather but it would be nice to have a display on my MacBook Pro too. How hard would it be to write a program that does this? This should be a fun project.

Does this help? They're called "Menu Extras".
