5x 10.5 iPads here (DL and DM) + 4x DLs at the apple store all had the yellow band at the bottom.

Do not replace for that if there arent any other issues.

Thanks for the input. Everything else about my iPad isn't bad at all. I would hate to do an exchange just to get a bad button or dead pixel.

The first one had a fain yellow bar on the Home button side. I have noticed it right away when I powered my iPad for the first time. The exchange unit, I'm not sure, may it has one as well, but it is much more faint and you wouldn't notice it unless you are looking for it.

I showed the OH who couldn't tell at all, but I can see a faint warmer band (about 1cm in width) on the home button side. Would someone mind double checking these pics please - am I just seeing things?

FWIW, the serial starts with DM.

I see it. I would describe the band as darker than the rest of the screen.

Thank you. I showed OH again under natural light and we both can see that it has a band at the bottom. I'm on the fence as to whether I want to order another or just return it and wait a few months. As much as I love the 10.5 (especially with the Apple Pencil), I'm not sure if I want to play a screen lottery

What do you have to lose exchanging a few times and then, if unsatisfied, leave it for a few months?

It's time and hassle mostly... The only screen lottery I've encountered was Nintendo and if that's anything to go by, I'm not looking forward to another. Having said that, your iPad did just instil hope :p so a new one's incoming tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Good luck!

I must admit these screen issues kill the excitement of purchasing. I decided to go to my local Apple store last Thursday and purchase mine, and all the way I was thinking "I hope they have a few as I'm bound to open it in-store and have an issue, like before". Thankfully not.

My DM. I've been thru tons of Apple devices due to screen issues, so I'm well-versed in spotting things and being sensitive to issues. I consider my panel to be as perfect as possible.

Looks perfect to me. My iPad Pro 9.7 had a perfect screen. My 10.5 has a suggestion of a yellow band at the home button side. It is so slight that I'm not sure it is really there and I'm very happy with the screen with no plan to exchange it.

Also, keep in mind that when asking others to evaluate your screen, it will only look as good as the screen they are using to view it on.

For example, if my screen has a yellow tint to it, then every photo of a screen I view will appear to have a yellowish tint, even if the target screen is blue-ish.

Let us know how your next swap goes process wise and screencwise
Just left the Apple Store... I brought back #2 and stayed there to open up #3, which was worse than #2. So I asked for another one on site and IT IS FLAWLESS!!!! So I recommend just hanging out there while you're swapping out, would save you quite a bit of driving.

Good luck to all on finding what seems to be a UNICORN screen!

So it took 4 units for you to get a good one? Which serial btw?

Here is mine. You can really tell when you open a draw app and use it. Thoughts?

Yup 4th time is the charm!

My serial number starts with DLX

The pic makes it look like the shadow is still there are the home button side, but it's not there

All Pics have the following settings in common :

- Max Brightness
- TT OFF ( where applicable )
- Night Shift OFF
- Auto Brightness OFF
- Pics taken with Galaxy S8+

First off, Air 2 : Perfect (to me, and a few others I have shown it to) milky whites, blues, etc. A bit on the cooler side, but with Night Shift on, just right!

Finally,

So, I'm curious to see which screen ( between the DMPT and DLX ) would be your pick ? I threw in the Air 2 pics for comparison too!
