As rdowns said you could you it to your advantage - but really, in a junior position there should be absolutely minimal need to use your own money in advance, especially for purchases of 'stuff'.

There are exceptions - as in the case rdowns mentioned, and e.g. also when I was doing a lot of travelling without a company card issued to me. In that instance I just sent them a fax detailing my expenses and they credited the amount back into my account within a month, and this practice is probably pretty normal.
 
To answer some questions, the company that pays me is a small company of less than 50 people. However, the IT work I do is for a non-profit that is partially funded by the company I work for (i.e. I am technically an employee of a for-profit company but all my work is for the non-profit).

My suggestion is that we get a business AMEX card for IT and so the few of us in IT won't have to use our own cards. Somehow or another they don't like that idea. My issue isn't fearing they won't pay me, but that too many of buying stuff out of pocket and then waiting nearly a month as I do for reimbursement does put me in a financial crunch.

But yes, my blue rewards lately have been nice.
