Does this also charge the iPhone 3G? The description says it comes with a USB cable for the iPod.

Hi, yes it does charge my iphone. The USB cable they are referring to plugs into the dock connector on the bottom of the iPhone. It passes everything through the phone to the stereo, even when you get a text message or an email, it plays your sounds (gracefully I might add).

The only thing that sucks is you do get that pop up that says "this accessory was not made to work with the iphone, do you wish to turn the radio off". I wish Apple would give us the option to disable that warning, but it's no big deal just click no and drive away!

You want to tell me where?

To the original poster, I had a similar issue as I was trying to find an FM Transmitter that worked through my speakers. [After much effort I found the motorokr T-505 to be (part) of my solution. The T-505 will handle the calls through the speakers and it has a mic on the unit that allows for other people to hear you. The unit is rechargeable and sits on your visor. What this unit won't do is play music straight from your iphone (due to the way the iphone handles mp3s). To fix this issue (as I really wanted both the wireless phone and the music) I purchased a sony ipod bluetooth transmitter that connects to the bottom dock of the iphone. The motorokr can accept multiple bluetooth signals so it is able to play the music and then when a call comes in, the music pauses until the call ends. I really like how it works but it may be a bit more expensive an option as it was ~$120 for the rockr and ~$55 for the bluetooth.

There was also a bluetooth adapter that was rechargeable and plugged directly into the headphone jack. The benefit would have been that I could charge the iphone while driving, but then I would have to remember to charge the bluetooth device. In the current setup i leave the rockr plugged in and only have to charge the phone.

Right there.

Guess what Amazon.com has it as a lightning deal right now. Less than $89.99.

Edit: Sorry starting in 30 minutes.

Right there.

this handles the calls through the speaker on the unit, not through the speakers on the car. I was hoping for a simple, non bluetooth solution with an fm transmitter. If the ONLY way the get the sound from a call to come through the FM transmitter is via headphone jack, then i need to find an fm transmitter that goes out through a headphone jack. You would THINK that would be easy, but its not. I can not find one anywhere..

Almost every FM transmitter has a headphone jack.
I posted links to two of them earlier.

What ones are you looking at, I bet the jack is there. If it is not, it will only work with iPods, and most manufactures don't want to restrict their products like that.

you mean that something like an itrip has a headphone jack on it and you can just run a short cable from the output of the phone to the input on the fmtransmitter?

I have NEVER seent that, i have only ever seen a mini usb.

Also, did you post those links on here? I havent seen them. can you repost?

nevermind. I saw what you posted.. i am going to look at mine and see if it has that. Maybe my older one has it as well.. we'll see. THANKS>

http://www.pcmicrostore.com/PartDetail.aspx?q=p:10504024 - Will NOT charge iphone 3g, but audio works through 3.5mm jack. It may charge with the origional iphone, I don't have one to test with.

http://www.pcmicrostore.com/PartDetail.aspx?q=p:10506758 - Will charge the phone. I don't have it so I can't give a review.

Some actually have a headphone jack built in.

This is also what the microphone I posted earlier is for, so you can have a mic in between your iphone and FM transmitter so you don't have to have the phones mic close to your face.

thanks SOOO much. You actually GOT what i was asking for. the bluetooth thing seems silly if you can get a similar result with an fm transmitter and a mic. RIGHT?

Thanks a bunch. I will probably look at my old transmitter to see if there is a headphone jack and pic up a mic..

I installed a bluetooth kit under the dash of my car because I didn't want to have to take my phone out of my pocket every time I get in my car. Turn on the car and it connects and mutes the radio when on a call. But if you are setting the phone somewhere already, it seems silly when this option is available.

The only thing I don't know about is the feedback on the mic from the car speakers. I had to watch that when placing the Mic for the bluetooth kit.

i usually HAVE to set the phone somewhere as soon as i sit in the car because i usually have to charge it. I Use the phone A LOT at work, and when i get int he car, if i dont charge it, then i would be SOL by dinnertime. I do a lot of web surfing, emailing, and lsitening to music.. i actually LIKE having my phone out on a stand in my car, so if i could get that stand/holder to do the charging AND play music, AND put calls through, it would be PERFECT..

The solution you presented seems like it will work without an issue. I just dont think bluetooth is needed for me right now. its nice, but not nessesary. Maybe when i get my new car, i will have something integrated, but for now.. i have my crap box of a car.

yea.. all of those are great, but cant work for me. my stupid cigarette lighter outlet is 2 inches to the right of my ignition and directly BEHIND my windsheld wiper lever. I also have a bunch of other items that are not hardwired like my GPS, satellite radio, ect so i added an oulet splitter which sits under the dash.. so that would really just NOT work.

I need something LIKE that, but with a cable and plug and not a gooseneck/

this handles the calls through the speaker on the unit, not through the speakers on the car.

Hmm well let me think... I wonder how this works then? "Product Features
Stream music from your phone to the T505 and through it to the car audio system, using the FM transmitter"

Maybe this then? http://www.amazon.com/Monster-Radio...?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1219252777&sr=8-34

Also, for the solutions posted above you can just get an extension cable or something. http://www.autoaccessconnect.com/12volciglige.html

Anyhow I'm not going to be posting in any more of your threads, reason being you are almost as annoying as those people that write like this. http://www.flickr.com/photos/spamberly/2316676708/

Edit: Ahh I thought maybe they would have an ignore feature on this forum. When I went to your profile looking for it I seen your picture. It confirmed my annoyance.

ok. great.. first off, i would be happy if you didnt post on my threads. You offered no real answers. I got my answers from a helpful person thanks very much.

Also, why were you snooping my profile if you dont even like me? Why do you want to see what i look like? And where did you see a picture of me in my profile? Unless you snooped ALL of my posts, which makes you a stalker with no life, you wouldnt have found a pic of me.. or maybe you googled my username.. that give you even LESS of a life

I know what your looking for, and had you done any searching at all you would have found one that a. Holds your iPhone in place, b. is an FM transmitter, and c. has a 3.5mm cable that runs from the unit to the iPhone to allow over speaker call broadcasting, all for around 12 dollars SHIPPED.

Honestly, you people should learn what google and ebay are before posting.

On top of that, a bluetooth isn't a waste of money at all, most people use them out of the car AS WELL as inside the car. good luck.

Where are you finding that for $12 shipped? The lowest I have seen it is around $28, and I HAVE been searching.

umm. i did google, but the actual question at hand was WHAT needs to be done in order to get the call audio to come through the speakers of my car. I saw no clear answer until now. The headphone jack is the ONLY audio output that outputs call audio.. i can probably find my products now that i know this information.. But i asked if anyone knew of some to post.. why is that a bad thing? If someone else comes across this, there is a bunch of info.

I never asked people to do research for me.. but i had limitations as to my car's layout, and the fact that FOR ME blue tooth was a waste of money since i will be getting a new car and dont want to spend another $90 on anything for my iphone. I was looking for a simple, cheap solution.

I wish people would realize that what i say "waste of money for me (or my situation)" that i am really talking about ME and not you or anyone else!

On another note, if you read the post just above yours, you would have read that the gooseneck thing WILL NOT work for me because of my layout - which i states was a limitation in what i CAN do with my car..

and again, the reason for asking people to post their solutions to see which one WOULD fit for me.
