I use my iPhone whenever I'm bored and I'm fine. I type with one thumb, both thumbs or with my index finger on both portrait and landscape keyboards.

i got bored yesterday and jammed the corner of my iphone into my eye socket.

i hope the new iphone has large corks on all four corners to avoid discomfort and pain next time i suffer from boredom

:D

Not to mention the phone would float. No more water damage AND it could be used as a flotation device in case of water landing, etc.

Every once in a while if I am typing a few long emails I might feel a little something. It is not real painful. It usually goes away quickly though.

Thumb hurts after using IPhone

After holding the phone for a while, usually resting my thumb on the bottom area around where you plug in the charger.

It's not a pain as such but a numb feeling, like pins and needles. I am concerned that some for of radiowaves or power or some kind is transfering into my hand. I am worried that in years to come we will all find out about cancer risks etc to hands/ears...

Does anyone else get this numb tingly feeling, not through typing or anything, just holding the device near the charger area?

Yeah, you can give yourself tendonitis if you're holding the phone strangely. There are just certain ways that your hand is not intended to move a thousand times a day.

Old thread, but my thumbs never hurt back then, and they still don't. :) If anything, they got slightly more sore back when I used to do a lot of typing on either of my BlackBerries. Never so much as a twinge from the iPhone.

Not at all.

Does this poorly executed poll suck?

To be honest, my thumb does hurt a little when I use the home button a lot, then again that could be from being a champion at Playstation when I was younger :)

But seriously, yes, my thumb hurts occasionally.

The very first month I used the iPhone, my fingures, wrist & specifically my thumbs would hurt after medium hardcore texting / using the phone.

After a couple months, my hands started getting used too it.

Though I honestly think I might have arthritis due to it. Atleast a very small version of it. For instance, if I hold the phone ant extend my arms straight and attempt to slowly turn my wrist without force (without turning my arm) in towards the center of my body, it will "bounce" or "stall"

Nope, never.

No. Never before. And not in the future.

OP - I would look for other stressors to your thumbs that are causing the damage that is apparent when you use the phone.

Pins and needles

I get very bad pins and needles in my second finger whenever it comes into contact with my i phone. It has lessened sensitivity too. would like to know if anyone has experienced the same problems?

I am starting to feel some pain in my right hand/wrist/thumb area. It's more painful when I am holding & using the iPhone to type or scroll. Anyone else here?

No. But you are likely dealing with a repetitive use injury. You can get a cheap little brace at your local pharmacy and wear it for a few days to prevent overuse and allow healing. You'll be fine.

When I first got a texting phone I had this issue. Also when I first got a desk job and again when I started online PC gaming for hours at a time.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome =\

I can't vote but, no they don't hurt. I'm guessing it doesn't hurt because I'm not using a physical keyboard. I remember when I was using my BlackBerry and my Sidekick my thumbs would hurt a lot.
