You need to break this poll down into black and white models since overwhelmingly more white phones are seeing this even though that may just be because it is more noticeable on white. But that has not been proven so yet.

Tell me how and I'll do it..

lol, I was afraid you might ask that. I have no f'in idea . . . :D

maybe ask a mod if they can help edit it?

Can you edit to add a 2nd poll, delete the first and then add the other? So two polls in one thread maybe?

My black 8GB has one that I can see, from the headphone jack running 1/4" down, not towards the bezel. I hope this doesn't mean it will spread further and go down...

White iPhone, Week 28 - Yes, has cracks

Can't a real poll with tally results be setup by the forum administrator?

Won't these results be somewhat skewed? Sorry if this is OT a bit but like isn't there a bit bias because well, let's say I had cracks on my iphone, then wouldn't I be more willing to see if other people did too (e.g. search a forum and vote in a poll) than if I was just a randomly chosen user? So..technically the results/frequency of cracks should actually be less frequent in the whole population of iphone users (I believe?).

Hmm, these percentages aren't as bad as I thought they'd be, especially when you consider that a substancial number of the "Yes" votes are probably from bitter owners of the rev.1 iPhone, trying to make their phones look superior.

week 29 white, no case, never dropped, no cracks

And I'm not really worried bout cracks, the material seems very durable to me.. Sorry to hear bout the few of you that have this prob...

I'm on my second white iPhone (first one had an uneven screen that sloped) and neither of them, as far as I can tell, have had any cracks or pressure marks.

I will say, however, that my edges are a little rough where the plastic meets the bevel and one corner (the top left one) is not perfectly aligned, and the plastic sticks out past the silver by about a half MM (enough to catch with your finger). But no biggie.

Exactly one week after I got mine, I'm starting to see small cracks near the volume up and down buttons, much like the cracks on my white MacBook :/

Interesting results so far. Paints a much different picture than the blogs and forums.

And you'll still see more people saying they have cracks in a place like this simply because most people come here to post about issues.

True enough. I get a kick out of those that make it seem like every 3G iPhone in the world is shoddy and defective and that Apple is "slipping", based on the 100 or so data points they find on the forums.

does anyone want to start a new thread for information on model number, week number, and yes or no for cracks? that way, we can see if it is really just a bad batch or is it something else.

btw. 16gb White iphone. no cracks yet.

Model: MB499LL
Week:29

Voted Yes !

White Iphone
MB499LL
week 29
Bought July 28th

only one noticeable crack near volume control
But dozens of micro cracks all around bezel area .

They are only noticeable under very bright light and with close scrutiny so i dont think a return is in order yet , but i at least know what to watch for .

No cracks (so far)...

White, week 29.
Keep it either in a belt slip case or naked in my pocket (but not with keys, coins, etc).
