My phone has no cracks yet and neither of the display models at 3 stores I looked at had any cracks. The display models get abused all day so that boosted my confidence. P.S. I'm in Canada so we may have a different batch or something.

Model: MB629C
Not sure how to find the week. If it's the part of the serial number indicated in the post about mine, then it's week 31.

iPhone cracks on casing

It is likely that the cracks were caused during the manufacturing process. If the cases were stamped out as molds then it is OK. If the case started out as a whole piece and they used some type of mechanical drill or saw to cut then you will see micro cracks. It would be on the black cases as well, just don't see it. Micro cracks affect the structure of the plastic. Over time it will expand.

Mine (white 16gb) has microscopic cracks along the right side of the outer camera ring. They are not as bad the pictures that I have seen of other iphones with similar cracks. I only noticed them when I was looking really close to the lens while cleaning some dust from it. I decided to just hold on to it for now, unless it gets worse. It doesn't bother me that much. I keep a protective case on it.

Mine is the white 16gb and has very small hairlines visible in sunlight by the headphone jack, side with no volume buttons, and where the dock connector plastic meets the chrome, but definitely scared they are going to progress into real cracks....so I'm debating on whether or not to exchange it now or just wait till the damage is fully there making the exchange more worth it. Any opinons?

I've checked all (5) of my iPhones on my Family Plan and to my amazement, "0" cracks. Thankfully, we all have cases and I know of only one drop so far, that occurred just yesterday. I took my iPhone off my belt and it slipped out of my hand as I was unplugging the headset and it fell slow motion, bounced off my knee and flipped end-over-end about four times, then landed on the carpet and rebounded about 6" and I caught it before it bounced on the hardwood floor. A cursory search revealed no damage to my iPhone, but my dang Griffin Elan Leather Clip snapped into two pieces and that's the reason it slipped from my hand. All I had in my hand was the broken half of the clip and my Bose headphones in the other, and just moments ago I was walking from my driveway made of concrete and brick...
