the only (very minor) problem i found with mine was a slight dint in the plastic where the black circle is. Other than this it is perfect; even as the baseline of Apples laptops, it flies!

I am a switcher and my macbook's my first mac and labtop. My macbook would not eject my discs from my combo drive so i had to take it back and the apple store replaced it with another new macbook. So far everything seems to be going great! It does heat up though, and sometimes I get really picky and wonder if that whining noise that ocassionally comes about is normal but then again it is a computer so, yea I'm lovin every single moment with my macbook and don't even wanna go near a pc with windows anymore. OSX rocks!

Even though I just bought an iBook from iGary on the Marketplace forum I could not resist buying a new MacBook. So I sold the iBook on eBay and went down to my local Apple store today to buy my new toy. I bought a stock 1.8ghz and it's perfect. It does run warm, but no warmer than my old 12" PB. No weird noises, no deal pixels, no imperfections to the case. I'm in love. :)

yeah ive decided that im gonna take it up to the store this week (most likely tomorrow). do you think they will try to repair it there? will I have to wait a week for them to fix it? Or will I get a new one right on the spot?....doubt the last one will happen but one can hope, right?

Bill, they would have to replace the whole case. I don't see why they just wouldn't just give you a new machine. I have a feeling with as many of these machines comming back, that they're probably sending them to a depot facility to be remanufactured.

Mine moos very rarely, but it does have a the processor idle noise on AC power. QuietMBP fixes that though, and I don't consider it a major defect.

sweet because for some reason, a few minutes ago it started to WHINE!!!!! OMG it's driving me nuts! and I think i have the "moo" syndrome too because the fan turns on and off in a second...that's annoying also lol. I really hope they give me a new machine! so should i just take it back with the box and receipt to get a replacement there on the spot (i know my store has some in stock)? and what if I already installed MS Office on it?

I haven't noticed any issues. It does get a bit hot sometimes, but if I'm just surfing the web, chatting on iChat and listening to iTunes its bareable. Now when it really starts working its pretty darn hot, not like burn my table hot, butit would be unconfortable for extended periods of time. I haven't noticed any whine, moo or dead/stuck pixels. My apartment isn't that quite though. I always have my window unit AC on (which is kinda loud) and usually my Plasma/5.1 Surround Sound is on even when I'm not watching it.

Bill, I don't think they're going to care what software you have installed on it. But yeah, everbody else on this forum seems to be getting replacements. And besides, I don't think they want to turn the Apple stores into a depot level remanufacturer. ;) :D

sounds good  well i was asking about the MS Office thing because I'm curious if I'm going to have to reinstall it with another code # or just use the one I already entered on this mac. I would hate to have to use another copy of the software because I got a faulty mac...

I take it you have the Student and Teacher's Edition? Just go ahead and use the same key. MS will only take notice if you start installing it on dozens of machines. They take account of the possibility you might have to reinstall it if eg. you need to reinstall the OS.

No moo's.
No whines.
Gets warm, but not hot.
(I would expect 2ghz coursing thru a 1in depth to make it even warmer, but no.)
No problems whatsoever.
And I love the glossy screen. Even sitting at the airport with my back to direct sunlight, the screen remained perfectly visible and glare was not an issue.

Moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo'

Trackpad button was placed too left

I got my macbook yesterday from amazon and found that the trackpad button was placed too left which makes a big space on the right side between the button and the case and hard to click on the left part. Anyone knows whether it is easily repairable?

I dont think mine moos or whines. I've had it for a couple days but I haven't run anything intense on it. Although one time I was downloading widgets (a lot of them) and I had them all on in dashboard, the fan started goin, and got pretty hot. I didn't upgrade my RAM yet, so I'm expecting a nice jump in performance. :D

I just read about MagSafe ports melting and catching fire and stuff. Scared me a lot, almost made me regret ordering a MacBook.

How many of you have melted MagSafe ports?

What you mean like that one story about the MagSafe burning up when the guys cat peed on it? (a cat of all things....nice and manly)

Anyway, MagSafe is good. Have no fear.

Have You had troubles with your macbook?

No---Works great!!!
Yes---Plastic on vent or other minor problem
Yes---It moos or overheats
Yes---Other

For some reason it won't let me post the poll: Will someone else do it for me?

I had to put "one or more minor defects" because it has a tiny, *tiny* whine when the processors idle. I really have to listen for it, and can only hear it, even then, in a silent room. So I guess that's a "minor defect." But really, I am very picky yet consider this essentially flawless.

Black Macbook little spot

Hi guys. The other day i found a little dust on the cover of my macbook so i tried to clean it off. But after cleaning, the little dust became a tiny little hole with silver color inside. Im not sure if it was there before or maybe because of my cleaning. Im thinking of exchnage for another one becuase of this. But is it really worth changing? After all, its extremely small little hole and normally no one or even me can recognise it. Want u guys' opinions. Cheers. And if anyone one else got the same problem? Thanks
