Yeah mines different too. Wtf

So, I removed the case and it was still making the new sound.

I turned the phone off and then powered it back on, the sound is back to normal.

Put the phone back into the case and now it’s making that weird sound again. I can’t imagine it’s a MagSafe “exclusive” because it’s kind of jarring.

I’m having the exact same issue, and so is my wife. Same phone- iPhone 12 Pro 256 VZW iOS 14.1. Lock sound glitches out after every MagSafe charge.

Yeah and this is happening for us with and without the case, so I’m not sure the case is related.

I removed my case and then turned my phone off and back on and magically my lock sound is normal again. I put the phone back in the case and it immediately changed the lock sound again. Can't say I'm a fan of the new sound

I don't have a case but the MagSafe charger.
Restarting my iPhone 12 or a soft reset didn't solve the problem
Changing the volume helped.
Strange, looks like a bug.

Happens here too every now and then... Weid. Software or hardware issue!? Rebooting phone seems to help...

I have it happen as well. Installing 14.2 "fixed" it but then it came back as soon as I put the iPhone on the MagSafe charger. Definitely a software bug.

Okay so this pretty wide spread problem. Let’s hope it’s not releated hardware and Apple can fix this with OS update.

I'm not sure if this is a bug. MagSafe accessories are recognized by the iPhone, and I'm sure Apple intended on this sound change.

Which is sad, because I really enjoy both the leather MagSafe case and the 'normal' lock sound.

But rebooting makes the sound normal again...

Yes, it does. But the bug might actually be that the iPhone isn't checking often enough if a MagSafe case is removed, or that the removal of the case doesn't trigger reverting the sound back to the original sound. That makes sense in my head, let me know if it doesn't translate to typed text lol.

Either way, I don't like the new sound so I hope they change it.

Yeah. But then there is this problem with keyboard sound which changes while you write... It starts almost silent and get louder to the point where it should be....

I can't replicate this issue...

What are you doing where you see this?
Just typing. This doesn’t happen every time so it can be hard to notice. Others are having this issue too:

There’s more stuff about this over the Internet. Maybe I take my phone to the Service... These aren’t so big issues but maybe I can get a new phone in before the warranty ends. 😅

It would be just nice to know if this is all releated to software or hardware or both? I still bet software as YouTube, Apple Music etc plays just fine. Still, can’t be sure because this wasn’t fixed in iOS 14.2 update.

Also can’t find any info that the lock sound should be different when using magsafe cover. Maybe I remove my cover, boot the phone and use my iPhone 12 Pro ”naked” couble of days and listend if all these sound issues goes away.
