Did some more searching and seems that people have had this since the iPhone X. Some have it some don't. For example my Xs Max doesn't have this problem/bug. And it's not related Magsafe. Removed the cover and booted my phone and keyboard / lock sound is still inconsistent.

Don't know what to do. 🤔

Same problem here. No way better with IOS 14.3 Public Beta:(
Maybe this is after all hardware releated!? Maybe I can live with this and take my phone to the Service just before my phone is out of warranty.

it just seems this is really wide spread problem... I guess many users won’t even notice this.

Has anyone tried full factory reset? If so, did it help? I’m talking about the fluctustion on lock/keyboard sound volume.

I was wondering why the lock sound seemed different. Sure enough, rebooted the phone and it was back to normal. Slapped on my Apple magsafe case and it changed. Weird. However, I would assume if this was intended behavior that it would switch back when the case is removed and mine does not.

Also noticed the "ramping" keyboard volume. My 12 PM seems to have lower volume overall than my old 11 Pro, especially keyboard and system sounds. Not happy with the audio quality in general.

That’s why I don’t think the different lock sound is intetional.

For me the bigger problem is the keyboard soud which keeps going up and down. I think I will try factory reset and if it wont help I will take my 12 Pro to the Service.

somehow it just feels stupid to take phoe to the service to just this small problem... but I’ m just to keep my keyboard sound on and I bugs me that the volume isn’t even... But because my Xs Max doesn’t have this or my girlfriend’s Xr there is something wrong. This is such a expensive phone that I must be able to use it without any kind of problems.

Having the same issue on an iPhone 12 Pro Max. Noticed the lock sound was sharper, with a lot more treble, shorter with less definition. Basically, less mechanical like the "normal" sound.
  1. Rebooted the phone and the sound returned to normal with Apple's Mag-Safe case installed.
  2. Attached the mag-safe charger to the back of the phone and this triggered the mag-safe sound and charging animation.
  3. Locked the phone and lock sound was now "different" and back to being "short."

Exactly the same thing I’m having on the 12 Pro Max.

Seems to be coming back now by turning off keyboard clicks and lock sound then turning the back on. Hearing both now with magichharger attached.

Same here... but after a reboot, it sounds normal again. iOS 14 bug I suppose.
Not sure anymore if this is a software bug. Feels like atleast the weird lock sound should have been fixed as it’s releated to the new MagSafe stuff...

It’s software, it’s triggered by the magsafe animation/sound, magsafe charger without power does not produce the issue. The keyboard volume variation also happens on the Air 4.
