I've worn glasses since I was 4 years old, and to be honest, I've always hated them when I was growing up. I can't tell you how many times I've destroyed a pair of glasses while playing when I was a child, only to be taken to task by my parents.

I started wearing glasses when I was 6 and switched to contacts when I was 12. I have really bad eyesight, -7.00 in both eyes, the one plus is that my vision is the same in both eyes.

Staring at backlit screens all day has pretty much ruined my vision. I have to lean in pretty close to even read what I'm typing while my MacBook Pro is on my lap (and other text). I sit a few feet away from my 50" TV to play video games (which really is pretty immersive). That should be socially acceptable, but unfortunately most people sit far way so that their TV takes up about 15%-25% of their vision. Backlit displays are usually worse to the average user who doesn't know or care to change a display's backlight from maximum brightness.

Anyway, I have glasses for distance, but I never wear them other than when I absolutely need to. I should probably change my habit, but I don't like looking at the world through glass. I'm sure many people on this forum have pretty bad vision from all of the displays they look at daily? Suggestions? Opinions? Our vision is only getting worse. I'll wait a while before having any surgery done since you should only have lasik done once then your vision will worsen again.
I have 20/20 vision.

In contacts, I'm -9.5 in my left eye, and right eye -10.5. In glasses, about -11 and -12.0.

I've been wearing glasses since the third grade. From childhood through puberty, my vision gradually worsen. After college, it stabilized until my last check-up and contact lens fitting.

End of 2008, I went to have my eyes reviewed for Lasik. If I was eligible, I would change my Flexible Spending Account withholding to save money for the procedure. Despite the updated technology, the doctor was hesitant and didn't think I was a good candidate. My eyeball is oval, like an egg. So even with both RK and Lasik, he couldn't guarantee 20-40/20 vision. BTW, if you're in your late 30's, early 40's and consider doing lasik, the doctor may recommend monovision in one eye. Instead of giving you 40/20 vision, they back off to 75/20 to account for anticipated aging.

While I've been fortunate to have fairly good vision my whole life I noticed that more time I spent in front of the screen started causing vision problems. In addition to making sure I rest my eyes through the day, I also started taking a lutein supplement. Both have helped a lot.

God, my vision absolutely SUCKS.

I've had glasses since 3rd grade. And I got contacts in 9th grade (In 11th now). My vision is like..-5.5 for both my eyes.

I blame my addiction to videogames around 2nd/3rd grade.

+1 for me for pretty much everything you just said. Maybe this is the year I get Lasik. :p

No but I worked a second job for a bit to pay for lasik. Best thing I ever did.

I feel it is only a matter of time before I have to start wearing glasses.

My whole immediate family, besides myself, has some form of eye wear whether it be for reading or all time.
