I don't know how my white ipad looks because I returned it and got a black one which really is less distracting. You definitely notice the white bezel, whereas the black disappears.

Haven't been distracted by the white bezel yet, and I'm easily distracted. I think that in most cases you are holding the iPad close enough that that the bezel color is a non issue.

I dropped mine once so there is a tiny scratch on the one corner, but other than that it's still like new.
