The reason corporations are constantly getting hacked is probably because paying the ransom is a lot cheaper than securing their vulnerable networks. Customers will always forgive and forget what happened anyway. Just look at T-Mobile. They get hacked so often you need a score card to keep track of it. Yet they continue to sign new customers.

Online I only see this article giving details

Also as posted this threads MacRumors article

So pretty much nothing that really involves Apple supplier currently known. ?
Not known by the reporter, doesn't mean the agencies involved don't know more. In fact, they almost certainly do, but you don't give out all the details in criminal investigations to the public for a number of reasons.

Not sure where the US government gets off interfering with a foreign company operating in another country. This is why people say the rich are governed by separate rules than the rest of us. Ridiculou/s.

Good! The more scum that are tracked down and prosecuted the better. (I hope it's a meaningful sentence after prosecution. 20 years+)
Yet more with enough skill and confidence will hack Apple again, just maybe not demanding a ransom, cause that is dumb.

US has so many hidden ties with foreign government I am not going to be surprised they can prosecute anyone at anywhere regardless of citizenship or nationality.

But thats the argument for another time.

Poland is still a member of the EU. The hacker can possibly fight extradition by appealing to the EU Supreme Court on grounds that being subject to the US criminal system would violate his human rights. Not saying my home land's treatment of prisoners is bad... but dang, it sure feels that way whenever I turn on the news.
And that’s totally okay, Poland is not on war, and this guy seems to not be a US citizen.

Europe invented Linux.

Europe made the first video game phone (N-Gage) on Linux with Java.

Now, Europe only supports iOS / macOS, running UNIX, with Java and LAMP running on Linux.

I don’t really understand why Europe hates Android (Linux)?

It would be like French people wearing Old Navy / Gap / Banana Republic clothing.

So this guy is smart enough to do all this hacking and breaking professional security systems but dumb enough to get caught?
he is also dumb enough not to use his smarts to build something lucrative like some great app or OS or even do bounty hacking for corporates.

He asks $50M from Apple, but even if they paid where are you going to hide $50M? in what bank? not with CIA looking after you.

One of those two hackers is already in custody? Wow. This guy will get to know the US prison system With 115 years Real well. Huulala…

Hackers are smart and stupid at the same time, its one thing to data mine and find a company's new products before release but to sit there and think any company will kneel to extortion is just ridiculous, it has never happened.
Garmin literally kneel to a extortion scheme ;-)

It all depends on how critical the hack is. Stealing schematics at late stages of development is not "deal breaker".
Shutting down the entire global online website for days on end ... different story.

Imagine if Apple lost days of online purchase revenue ... that's billions. If the ransom is in the order of millions, do the math.

That is governed by treaties and other agreements. They aren't exactly 'hidden', but can be hard to read. Let's not inflame conspiracy minded people, ehh... There is so very much of that already flowing around.
