Do I need to buy world of warcraft to get the 10 day trial?

Shaun

Ouch. Thats about all I can say. I've tried shaving in non-facial areas and while not exactly comfortable, nothing like that has ever happened. Hope you get better soon.

If you lived, oh, you know, 6000 miles closer I would just loan you my WoW CDs and a guest pass, although I must warn you, I downloaded the trial not planning on buying that game, thinking I would just see what all the nerds at my school were so worked up about, and, of course I ended up buying it. (You've been warned)

Hot damn I have been planning on getting myself a Philips Bodygroom for a while now....

....uhh.....*cringes*....damnit.....

This thread means nothing without pictures.

LMAO! Dude thats hilarious! I'm pulling 36hrs of being awake 1 overnight shift less than 4hrs sleep and another 9hr shift. so some sleep and I've just woke up the kids. LMAO!

FearFactor7;
Dude you did your callsign justice. Just a question WHY on Earth would you use a CIRCULAR trimmer near your anus?! Why not a beard trimmer? But then again you'd open yourself as well so. Dude I think the doctor ripped ya a new one.

Yeah shaving your hair near your bum is something you shouldnt do. I used to do it because ... well .... hair near a bum is just nasty! DONT SHAVE DOWN THERE! Brief line is fine but never the rear!

Just poking fun. Hang in there and have a new year with much fun to make up for New Years Eve I'm sure more party's soon will be better.

If it helps, i've been vomiting & excreting blood for the past 3 months and only just been to the doctors, got a emergency appointment with the Ghastroenterology department next thursday :p I can't drink soda or fruit juices or eat too much bread or pasta ... uugh life sux eh? it's amazing how you cope under stressful situations.

Yikes. What part of your body did you shave? It's a veritable plague!

J/K- all. Get better, okay?

This is not the ringing endorsement for those kiwi fruit-smoothing grooming devices that they probably wanted. You should write them a firmly worded letter...

Dude. I know what you're going through. Believe me.

And I just wanted to warn you. Don't be surprised if it comes back, in spite of what you just suffered through. Believe me. When it heals, don't forget about it. They might have removed the hair, but those things do spread, and they do survive without the hair. They basically tunnel through your skin and form other abscesses. The infection of the hair is only it's opportunity to invade your body. Afterwards, the hair is out of the equation.

My suggestion is, hope like hell it does not come back. But if it does (and it's likely, like it or not), go and have it's pit picked (ask a surgeon about it). If it swells, make sure you get it speared ASAP if it does not leak. A blocked sinus is the main reason it starts to tunnel. An excision is too extreme nowadays, there are less invasive ways to treat it. Once you heal from the pit picking, get your ass lasered. Yes, hair laser removal. Remove every damn hair follicle from that area. This will decrease the chances of a recurrance greatly, and reduces the chances of you getting another invasion to near-zero.

For more information, go to pilonidal.org. Good luck.

EDIT: The site seems to be down now. I hope it comes back, there's a fortune of information about the disease on there.

Oh, Lizardshit! That's the worst ****ing thing I've ever heard of! I'm never using a razor anywhere on my body, ever again! Jesus Christ!

this thread has made and what it links too has made me laugh, cringe, vomit (a little anyways), and make my never want to bring a razor near my body again.

Anyways I hope you get better fearfactor.

Oh god you have got me worried now!

The nurses are saying it is healing very fast and that the tissue is 'beautifully' clean and healthy and it should be around a week before it's completely healed. Are you saying that it is likely to come back, after everything I have went through? I just want it to be completely healed, and I'm never going to shave that area again, hence I will have no more ingrown hairs.

I think laser hair removing service in that area would be very painful to say the least. Not to mention it would very embarrassing procedure.

hate to say it, but i had the exact same thing happen to me for the exact same reason (well, a differenty brand of trimmer). Lets just say i tried to handle it myself. I was able to drain and remove the "nest of hair" myself. Very painful. I went to the doctor and they told me i still needed surgery. They gave me the same drugs as you and scheduled the surgery for a week later. Well those were some good drugs. All of the swelling and pain went away. I opted not to do the surgery since chances are good that it would come back. It's been about 1 year and so far so good. There is a big dimple where it was and the two sinus openings are still there.
I make sure to scrub it with antibacterial soap every day.
But all and all, i think i was lucky.

good luck to ya

And the moral of the story? Don't fight perfectly natural hair, ESPECIALLY when it happens to be down there. And besides, who wrote the rule that beards are evil? Seriously? I think if trimmed regularly, they make one more intelligent looking...

Hmm, from http://www.pilonidal.org/aftercare/hair_removal.htm...

"Hair Removal

The least you need to know: hair removal is open to debate. Most surgeons recommend shaving during healing and for a few months after. Long term shaving is a decision for you to make with your doctor.
Who among us has ever imagined that one day shaving your butt crack would become part of your regular grooming routine? One thing that almost all the "experts" agree on is that those prone to Pilonidal Disease need to make every reasonable attempt to keep the cleft free from hair and debris. The reasons for this are as follows:

The current medical theory of how Pilonidal Disease gets it's start includes debris hanging around in the natal cleft (aka, your crack) that clogs the pores/follicles that have been stretched out.
Shaving naturally exfoliates the area of skin where it is performed. This is a good thing for people prone to Pilonidals since blocked hair follicles are also a cause of the disease.
There is an argument against hair removal. With the exception of shaving with an electric razor, all hair removal techniques involve some kind of irritation to the area of skin being treated. However, at this time the need to keep the area free from hair outweighs the worry about further irritation. If the "expert" advice on this topic changes, we'll be reporting it here first!"

So it seems like no one knows exactly which is best. I just groomed down there today...way to freak me out.

Hey well, my pilinidol healed fine in early January and everything has been fine and back to normal.. However, at the beginning of this month I felt a slightly painful lump in the area again. I haven't shaved or done anything to this area except exfoliated and kept it meticulously clean and dry. I left it one day and it got slightly worse - so I went straight to the doctor where he has confirmed it is another abscess (in the same place - perhaps some infection was left from the last one?) and has given me a week course of Ciprofloxacin 250mg. Last time I was given a weeks worth of Flucloxacillin (500mg). Is Cipro a more powerful antibiotic?

Anyway, I visited the doctor on the 1st. This is the 3rd. 2 days I have been taking the anti-biotics. It isn't getting any better however I wouldn't say it is getting bad as fast as the other one did.

There is no pus or leakage yet, just a hard painful area. I am going to leave it until Monday (5th) and go back to the Doctors. Last time I waited a full week until going to the Doctors where I was badly leaking pus and wasn't a pleasant experience. I'm assuming on Monday it will be worse, but won't be leaking or anything so it won't be as bad as the last one. But it looks like I will probably have to go back to hospital and go through everything again - including the nurses coming out every day. I don't know if I can handle all of this again. It was very hard for me to get over it last time and I was surprised how well I dealt with it all, but knowing what I'm going to have to go through again...it's just unbearable.

I will keep you informed.

Shaun

Ooh Ouch. Sorry to hear you have another one. :( As for the Cipro, my Mom used to sell it to doctors. She used to be a pharmaceutical sales rep. I think it's pretty good stuff. I believe it was the antibiotic they used to treat people who were infected with Anthrax. Not sure if it was the only one that would work against Anthrax but I think it was the best.
