He didn't get anything special. He thinks he did, but did not. He was due an upgrade before the family share plans went into effect, and waited until the iPhone 5 came out to upgrade. He thinks he got a sweet deal, but all they did was grandfather him in because his upgrade was available before the family share plans went into effect. They do that one time. Next upgrade, he will be on a family plan, unless he pays full price for the phone.
You don't need to sweet talk anyone.
AT&T already said you are grandfathered in to unlimited data even if you upgrade. I upgrade one of my unlimited lines (preordered iPhone 5) and didn't lose my unlimited data plan.
Maybe the agent was the real player.

Or maybe you didn't read the posts and see that he is on Verizon.
There's no throttling on Verizon's LTE network as per FCC rules with the 700MHz C-Block spectrum.
Doesn't appear that you have any experience with Verizon's unlimited 4G LTE. Many people use 20-100+ GB each month with no throttling. Verizon continually offers adding on unlimited tethering if you have unlimited 4G LTE.
My source is my brother (well actually, a cousin. but he's been like a brother to me my whole life) who works for Verizon as a rep.... believe me, I've tried to keep my unlimited. Even HE can't guarantee it. He can request it though. Honestly, I have no idea why they only run this check once a month. That's just how it works.
I wrote a thread about how you can keep your unlimited because of what some other rep told me, but after calling a few more times, it was debunked, and after the discussion with my bro, I admitted defeat.

You didn't do anything special thousands of people got the iphone 5 at subsidized pricing with Verizon and kept there unlimited data ur about a month late on this one PLAYER

Ive been looking through the forums for a long period of time and I haven't seen one post with somebody retaining unlimited data and getting the subsidized price on their line. I know i'm not the only one in the world! Just though I would post it to show people who didn't think it was possible up to this point that it can be done. and by the way, it seems you upgraded during a period that verizon was way more lenient to allow you to keep your unlimited data and also shows that you didint get your upgrade to your iphone 5 using your OWN line cause the iphone wasnt even out yet going off that updrade eligibility date.
