Well, Here is my experience. My wife and went on a cruise leaving from NYC and on the way back I stopped in the Apple store at the same day the touch was released. I had that same decision to make, and of course I went for it.

However, I returned the touch 5 days later, only because I forgot I had a major bill to pay, it hurt to do it, but it was the wise thing to do. However, I want it back and I going to get on before the year is out.

It is a big pill to swallow but I still want it.

Buy it!

My Ipod touch is by far and away the best ipod i've owned.

You could argue that it's the diet pepsi low fat counterpart to the iphone. But if you dont use your mobile phone much like me its a real charmer being £100 cheaper intially and saving you up £990 in monthly mobile charges.

Plus the dev work being done to exploit the mic input + Skype is ideal for making free calls to your mac/pc at home.

If you have no qualms about jailbreaking you'll have use of the iphone apps like mail, maps, notes, weather apps that are missing, plus a few fab 3rd party apps, like a nes and gameboy advanced emulators, Mobile scrobbler for Last.fm.com and 'Iradio' for streaming amongst others.

Its a fantastic music player and I heartily recomend you buy one!

:)

It sounds like you bought it after all. Hopefully you paid outright for it because financing something like this is retarded.

Don't need it.
But want it.
Can't afford it.
WTF I'll finance it and pay at least 10-20% more for it so I can have it now!

I'm daft, but not that daft. Paid for it outright, as I do all purchases (well, apart from my house and car :)).

At least now we know it's not just "Americans" who make poor financial decisions.

No, you don't have a monopoly on that ;)

Haha, well, as for me...

I want it.
I can afford it
But I dont need it :( as I already have 2 iPods, one being 60 gig.

I would probably buy an iPhone instead to replace my ageing Ericsson K600, when iPhone appears here officially (not hacked).
