At least this issue is actually something that could matter. Not like "OMG it says PRO!!!11". I suppose that's an improvement.
I read on this forum that the 3 Gigabit connector uses 4X as much power as the 1.5. Any truth to that? 'Cause I'll take better battery life over slightly faster HDD performance any day...
This can be easily corrected with a firmware update, the connection is inside.
Isn't it being shown as SATAII in windows?
and i bet the majority of users right now do not even use ssd's
yes...but apparently the SATA speed is still SATA I which is interesting...

Ah, no. 'Cause all the 15"er's haven't got SATA II either.
Nice try though.
Nope, the only ridiculous thing around here is you matey. Something doesn't personally affect you so you couldn't care less? Is it as simple as that?
Do you adopt that attitude in other area's of your life?
Wait until ,in this instance, Apple make a highly dubious decision that does affect you, and your usage of your Mac. Maybe other folks won't give one jot either way, 'cause it don't affect them none; it still won't make it any less important an issue.
One shouldn't only give a damn if one is directly affected by something; do you get that?
Sata I is obsolete technology, pure and simple. You may not be the slightest bit interested in SSD's now, but 12-18 months from now when they're much, much cheaper, you may suddenly find yourself wanting to sling an SSD in there that will wipe the floor with any HD you've ever laid eyes on. Then, you're in for a surprise, compared to current Mac Mini and whitebook owners that is
But you know what, I'm wasting my breath. There are those that only care about what impacts on their tiny little sphere of existence, and there are others.
Wait, does this affect the new post-2009WWDC 17'' MBP?
Or is this just a 13/15 inch issue?
You can't say that previous mb had same specs. Real Mbps had 6mb cache and 512 mb VRAM.
Even the top of the line 15 has the SATA 1.5 problem.
This is done intentionally. Even the hard drives they ship are SATA 1. I checke d mine
New 17" owners report that it has a 3.0Gb SATA interface. It appears to be 13" and 15" only.

I'm sorry to be late in the game here, just read about this..
Is this an actual hardware issue, or just a misreporting error in Leopard stating that 1.5GB/s is the speed?
MactrackerWhat program is that? It seems a little more informative than the system profiler...![]()
