Is it me? Or do you hate people touching your new mac?

i didn't think it would bother me, but someone came in today and just went on it and my annoyance was building up.. it was a non-mac user so it kinda ground my gears - "two finger what?" "two fingers to scroll ehhh?"
*sigh*. my mac mates i would be fine with.

to finish things off nicely, the guy goes "is this one of those wannabe apple computers, you know the mac ones?" pointing at my macbook pro. man...

any new machine/thing i'm usually cautious about people playing around with, not just my macs, due to its newness. :p but i think that is normal.

my only pet peeve about computers is people touching my screen. i hate that.

omg same. when they point at stuff and it's like you can just tell me you don't need to get your grubby fingers all over my screen, have some effin consideration. it's SO annoying :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I can't stand that either. Why must people poke the screen in order to point at something?

They're probably physical learners lol. Feeling that flat surface on which something is digitally pictured just makes them understand everything. It's like instant wisdom.

It's when people point at your screen with pens!!

I feel like stabbing them in the neck with their own pen!!

with a pen! *shudders*

the guy did the finger thing too!

"Ooo whats thats colourful picture?" *jab* *jab*
thats right, multiple jabs.

im glad people share these points of view!

This drives me absolutely insane, and its not even a gentle poke, its a proper hard poke, i dont know why people feel the need to do it, i wish screens gave people electric shocks when they touched them, i'd feel much safer then, and also my 17" MBP case is like a foot magnet, people always walk into it on the train, someone needs to make one with knife blades sticking out ha ha ha

I like allowing Windows folks to eff around with my MB. I feel like I can help people experience the "ease of use" thing that I have been talking about since my switch. One person at a time.

Depends on the person. If the person is clean then I don't care. If they are dirty then I don't like them touching ANYTHING of mine, new or old. I like to keep things in good condition and untainted. :)

I take my mac to work and half the time my colleagues point out things to me and i shudder every time they put there fingers near the screen, also if they use the touch pad yuk

to be honest, i don't like people touching my iMac, or MBP. however, i do kinda like it when people are intrigued with the way Macs look and feel, but not when the complain that they cost to much. i hate that.

I don't like people touching anything of mine , they can use it , fine, but don't come over all poky-touchy without asking, don't care what it is , If someone needs to use my gear etc etc etc no drama, but no touch without asking, just respect isn't it.

they do though , come on :p

i dont mind people touching glass screens, that can be cleaned, but bare TFT's, now that annoys me....

I Dont like people moving it, its mine, if you want to move it, get your own.

My biggest pet-peeve when it comes to people touching my Mac has got to be people touching the screen to point at something, because then for the rest of the day I have a fingerprint or smudge that I have to deal with until I can get home and take out the microfiber cloth. That and people who have a bad habit of spitting when talking, because then when you wipe the droplets off the screen, there is a smudge mark that is ever so noticeable for the rest of the day.

My BIGGEST pet peeve, is when some dork just comes up to you and says Mac's suck. Thats all, and he just stares at you behind those 1/3" thick lenses and all you can do is stare at those mountains on his face oozing with pimple juice. (Yea gross image) I want to smack those people. I ask him why he says it, and he just says, they do. "You can't even play video games in it"... I'll play a video game with you face you dork lol. Go play your WOW and call your mom already. UGHHH..annnoying.

I agree with that! It's sooooooo annoying when ppl just say Mac's suck and they have no reasoning to back themselves up.

But is it just me or do you guys HATE it when your Windows user friends want to use your Mac and they have no idea how to use it so they start making fun of your laptop and your taste! One of my windows user friends actually got upset with my laptop because he couldn't use the side of the trackpad to scroll down...cuz he "didn't like the two finger gesture."

GRRRRRRRR pisses me off!!!

I hate it when people do this with my iPod. Half the time they don't know what they're doing and the end up pushing down really hard and leaving their greasy finger prints all over it.

That sounds like a fantastic product. The knife part is a little too violent for my taste. Maybe a stronger shock instead? It works for dogs, maybe it will work for Windows users. :D JK!

But if you slapped him you'd have to touch him... ew.

I once had a friend use my iPod Classic. She was trying to get a song to play, by tapping on the play/pause button, saying: "What's wrong?! It's not working!" and I said: "It's not an iPhone! It has buttons. You have to PRESS DOWN on it!" Good times.

yes the screen thing can get annoying, but not that much to me. Most of my friends are just as protective of their computers, so they know better :)

I do feel though that whenever someone is using my Mac that I usually hover over them more, to make sure they don't have problems, / do things right and such, more so for sure than when I had a PC. I guess I do have mine set up to where it is super efficient for me, but confusing as hell, possibly, to a Windows user, so that might explain it...

lol good lord. What will we do years in the future when everything is touch-screen and some piece of ancient technology requires you to actually PUSH a button? :D

Maybe its just me, but I totally tend to judge the people like that at my college who have iPhones... then again it is Boulder so yuppies like that are to be expected

[EDIT] i realize that most everyone one here has an iPhone too, so don't hate on me for saying I judge iPhone users. It's just that up here most of the people who can afford them kind of suck... [/EDIT]

i can touch it and my GF can touch it, thats it... [insert jokes here ;)]
