These new unibodies are more rubust so I have no problem with it.

The previous machines caused me some stress.

(But I always give a little mini-course in proper handling of my stuff before hand, with a first aid kit at hand ( for them if they fail the course) ) :)

huh? if you don't want people touching your fanboy gear and you are anal about it, why not keep it in a bag where it is out of reach from people like "non-mac users." can't believe the post...you'd think the non-mac user had leprosy or something....sheesh.

I don't want anyone touching the screen of my MBP or my Sony Viao. Some people are just unable to resist pointing at a bright shiny display. Mac or no, I don't want anyone on my system. Why should we be inconvenienced (locking up the systems) because people can't respect our personal space?

Hands off!

why should you be inconvenienced? uh because, you can be and you don't own the public space and what people do in it. i mean, seriously, why not just warn people when they are close not to touch the screen? i tell people all the time to lay off my stuff and they do so.

Never really understood the whole fingers on the screen thing. I touch and jab my screen all the time, seems hypocritical for me not to allow others the same privilege.

I'm tempted to say that Women will do that (but I know better)

(And with nails it's not good) :D

i am the same way, i wont let anyone touch my mac who isn't a fellow mac user. I just get worried that they won't appreciate like i do.

Oh good god. That is probably the most elitist thing I have ever heard on these forums. Please GOD tell that was tongue-in-cheek humor and that you are not actually being serious. Because a comment like that gives people plenty of ammunition to say that Mac owners are a raving bunch of fanboy lunatics who fancy themselves as holier-than-thou because you have an Apple system with the little :apple: personally kissed by Steve Jobs...
ughhh!

:p

I think the problem with the latest macbook pro is prone to be dirtied by greasy finger, not just the lcd screen but the whole case, and the newest glassy screen will not help at all.

If polite admonishments was enough to keep the slimy fingers from touching this thread would be redundant.

I am "longing" for the day when people respect each others space without having to be told to do so. Seriously, I don't walk up to someone's desk and pick up their trinkets or randomly use their computer, nor should they.

Cheers,

It was meant to take the mick a little, but it has some truth to it too

my only pet peeve about computers is people touching my screen. i hate that.

When someone happenes to Jab ay my screen I have a deep seated Urge to tell them that there Fly is down, punch them in the groin, to point out where their fly is to them then politley say words to the effect of "see there was no need for me to do that to show you where your fly was, just like there was no need to jab at my screen to show me where the freekin :apple: menue is, I've been using apples since before you cared if they existed... ...ranr... ect." but my mum dragged me up better than that and i just vent my frustrations onto poor pixles in Hack-n-slach Button bashing console games, and Guitar hero/Rock Band series.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

that is the funniest comment of the day!

I don't know why but what really gets to me is when people pull the computer towards them without lifting it up and setting it down properly and gently, because I can always imagine the rubber feet underneath being stressed as the computer is being slid forward...if you absolutely must move my computer, pick it up a couple inches very very carefully and set it down perfectly gentle and square to the tabletop.

i was like this before i was a mac person, it irritates the crap out of me

i didn't explicitly say the admonishments always HAD to be polite. you assumed that. if i feel someone needs to be told to f*& off and it is warranted, i do so. some people are just THAT dense, you know?

OCD huh? we all are to a degree. you get bothered by people that drag their laptops and i don't like mac elitists - just don't get em at all. it is a computer for chrissakes...

jabbing your screen warrants a punch in the groin?!?! wow. i'd tell the guy off but i sure as hell wouldn't put one in their junk...that...that is just, ouch. maybe if the guy dropped my lappy, insulted my mother, stole my pocket money or kicked ME in the junk beforehand..sure, i'd think about kicking him in the junk but this? a bit far, ya think?

Haha, my violin case isn't too large either. Granted, my saxophones start to reach the point where it gets to be a nuisance, I usually only have troubles with my baritone and tenor Saxophones, my soprano and alto fit snugly wherever I feel like chucking them. I won't even try to bring my guitar anywhere. I'm surprised your viola is that much of a trouble to carry on board, aren't they about the same size as a violin? Hmmm....

I did end up shipping my French Horn a week in advance once as a fragile item. It cost quite a bit of money, but it did make things easier.

My viola case is not your typical case. I'm probably guessing you have one of these cases http://beststudentviolins.com/1007bobvl.jpg

I have this huge case that I lug around that holds pretty much all of my sheet music. I feel like such a goon, but I don't want it to leave my eyes any time during travel.

It's a bit bigger then your violin, but not by much(it's a 16in). Flying internationally is my only complaint. It's probably just my luck with flying!

I wouldn't appreciate anyone touching my screen whether the machine would be a Mac, or a Dell. Either way it's rude!

oh good because that sounded pretty bad, like giving us all a bad name bad.

I do agree with you to some extent, in that I feel a bit more comfortable when people who have used macs before use mine, simply because I don't have to walk them along when they ask "which one is the internet?" or when ctrl+c doesn't work ("no... you have to push the one with the little apple and the weird squiggly box thing on it :D")

OMG. My husband constantly will touch the screen on my mac, or iMac to show me something. Drives me crazy!!!
