Like a lot of others, I doubt you need to worry about in store activation as ATT servers will crash within hours of activation day as they all have done in the past!
iPhone 4 me, don't even bother. These people never learn. I've corrected over a hundred people who say "there" in place of "they're" and parrots who say "should of" instead of "should've".
These are the same Americans who walk into the Apple Store with a genius bar appointment and say "I can't browse the internet I accidentally deleted Safari icon HURR DURR."
Damn, now you have NONE left! Oh well.I think I just lost 5 IQ points reading that.
dough!forgot one.
Damn, now you have NONE left! Oh well. (yeah proof reading is usually done AFTER I post.... I'm a moron remember.)I think I just lost 5 IQ points reading that.
LoL, really? that's the best you can do? I feel so sorry for you. Anywho.... it is against forum rules to insult other members so you may want to remove that before a moderator happens to stubble in here and.... oops, here forever now seeing as I "" you.
But yeah, I guess I am a moron.... does that mean I'm disabled and can't work and can go sit with seizure boy?

Apple employees have zero direct access to your AT&T account. For them to sell you an iPhone, the software on their EasyPay (which are now iPod touch based) takes them through a couple of different screens, and then the software talks to AT&T, who then changes your account. So when you say "I hope they leave everything else on my account alone", that doesn't directly apply.I'm a little worried about them screwing up my account....especially since I am keeping my unlimited data plan. I feel like they're going to mess this up and I'll end up at AT&T which is why I wanted to buy it directly from AT&T to begin with but that didnt happen. The only thing I could get for sure was a reservation in store for launch day. I'm thankful that I have that but due to past experience when I got my 3G, they don't have the knowledge to properly do this stuff and they mess up your account. Had to go to AT&T to have them fix it...that day is going to be a gong show - I sure hope they just activate it and leave everything else with my account alone.
That's always been the policy. Even with the 3GS launch, those that purchased in-store were activated in-store.I have a hard time believing that the Apple Store will try to activate each and every customer. It’ll slow the entire process down considerably.
LoL, really? Funny stuff. I'm on a forum not writing a school paper... but I appreciate your concern.
Well I got all 3 of mine ordered just fine. I should of bought 4 just to piss all those that couldn't get through off. Already sold 2 of them on e-bay (one before the pre-sale even started)
Maybe if all the people that were "reserving" would of stayed off the computer and let all the pre-orders buy their phone there wouldn't of been such an issue.
Don't worry, I'll be in line at the Altamonte Mall in Florida picking up MY reserved i-4 with a smile on my face knowing the other 3 are on the way to my wife in Colorado. Yeah, guess I should of picked up a 4th online.... Oh well.
How would activating it at the store affect anything regarding your swap? Activate, remove sim card, switch, done?
Again, it's "should HAVE".. the English language really isn't that difficult.
I don't know why their system is setup this way, but when you purchase a iPhone from an Apple Retail Store, the activation information only stays in AT&T's servers until midnight of the purchase date. What I don't understand is this: Why can't I activate the phone at home just as I would if I had ordered it online?
I just ran into this and was DENIED sale of a shiny new iPhone 4 after waiting in line for 2.5 hours.
I'm trying to buy the phone as a gift for my wife. I have all her account info and SSN and she is fully eligible for the upgrade. She won't be home until tomorrow.
I was told at the store that I couldn't leave without the phone being activated, which means that my wife would be with a dead phone until tomorrow.
What I don't understand is this: Why can't I activate the phone at home just as I would if I had ordered it online?
Before you say "You should have had it shipped home," I tried all day like everyone else, to no avail.
