Kinda OT, but how do I get the other themes (like Christmas, underwater, ...) in Doodle Jump working?

You have to swipe the bottom of the homescreen left/right to select the various themes. This game was fun, now it is kind of boring. The Android version was terrible. Kind of like a cheap arcade knock off, missing levels, missing enemies, lag...

So you can afford an iPad but not $2.99 for an iPad version of the game?

I can't believe the number of people who moan about the pricing of apps that only cost a couple of dollars when they run on devices that cost literally hundreds of dollars. Get a sense of perspective and drop the misplaced sense of entitlement that app developers owe you some kind of free ride...

It's more about principle. I'm not paying more than I payed the first time for something that probably barely took them much time/work to do (just scaling some graphics), when they could've just easily made it a universal app. This is just trying to squeeze more money out of this game.

Already paid for "Call Of Duty" on my Xbox. No way I will pay again for the PS3 version. Rip-Off!!!

That's not even a logical comparison. The 2 consoles run on completely different software and hardware. It would take work to port it to another console. Unlike with this scenario, the only work that was done was the slight scaling of graphics; lazy developing.

Why does this make you mad? Why do you feel you should get the iPad version for free if you have the iPhone version?

I'm not quite sure why the iPad version should cost more than the iphone version though, especially since the iphone version is retina-enabled.

Thanks! :)

I knew that somebody would come with this argument - the comparison stays nevertheless: The iPhone and the iPad are two different platforms, no matter if the developer does or doesn not have have any additional work as the iOS under the hood is the same. When you buy an iPhone version of a game, which is iPhone only at this point, you don't buy the rights to get the iPad version for free and you know this by the time you're buying it. It's as simply as that. I am not the Robin Hood of the developers and if they decide to make an universal app of it - fine, that's cool, a nice thing and preferable. Believe me, I like this better than paying twice, too. However, again: I don't take this for granted just because the two different platforms are very similar to each other. And, as already pointed out several times here, we're not talkimg about console game pricing, but additional $2.99 ...

10million people bought doodle jump on iphone... so it means they made 10 million bucks from this simple game?

You have to pay for it? Coming from the PC gaming world where updates are free, no, I wouldn't buy it again.

If I can afford to support my titles, even though they're not as big as Doodle Jump and live very comfortably. And that includes content updates and promotion. I'm sensing a terrible amount of greed.

Yeah the constant complaining about pricing of apps is pretty ridiculous. Doodle Jump came out for iPhone, for a buck or two. Now it's out for iPad, a different device. Granted most of the code stays the same, but it's not just a matter of resizing images, you also have to test it and support it, and often they'll add iPad exclusive content or modes. That's not worth another few bucks? Especially if you already like the game?!

Now, perhaps Apple could consider some sort of "gaming/app store club", where you can pay $30 a month and get all the games you can play...but if you quit the club, your games are deleted. I doubt that would please people very much, at any price point.

Besides, people should want greedy developers...it means they're dedicated to making hit games.

I like the argument that because they sold a million on iPhone, the iPad version should be free/discounted. LOL.

Anyway, we can all vote with our money...don't like it, then don't buy. Not everything can be free, and the iDevices certainly aren't.

Now I'm off to pre-order NHL 12 for $60, like I do every year...so I certainly can't complain about $3.

No, they made 70% of that, and then subtract from that whatever ghastly taxes they had to pay on it in their home country. Probably less than $4 million.

I'm working in sterling currency so forgive me.

Doodle Jump was 59p - of which the developer makes 36p from this after taxes (I believe).

10 million x 0.36 - this would make the developer(s) 3,600,000 which in USD is 5,84424 at the current rate.
