i don't know, never played HOTS. Latest Dota2 release is on Source 2 engine from Valve and native for OS X

I've played DOTA and prefer HOTS. You should try it... Free to play, Mac native.

I play some DOTA 2. The engine is significantly more stable since they switched to reborn. Having 64-bit RAM is a major help. DOTA is much more difficult than HOTS, and you become more emotionally invested in the games (for better and worse). HOTS is a great little game, but I need a little more substance to my gaming.
