I get the same thing with my email alert. Finally tried researching it to fix, bummer seems like I am stuck.

Yes! Relieved to hear others are having this issue. Hopefully it gets fixed. Definitely annoying.

If we're talking about getting a notification, then unlocking the phone and getting another notification? Then yes.

Double Notification Sound - RESOLVED iPhone 4S

Hi there, this post was good for me as it got me looking around at least for a solution. I tried everything posted here but had no luck. I suspected (as others) that being able to choose an email notification alert tone in two locations may be the issue and for me that is exactly what it was. Go to
SETTINGS -> SOUNDS -> NEW MAIL
Turn ALERT TONES to "None", then in Notification Centre
SETTINGS -> NOTIFICATIONS -> MAIL
Choose the alert tone you want for each email account.
IMPORTANT! Do not wast your time testing. Restart the phone, then test. Should be all o.k.

I'll give this a try and see what happens. It seems viable as the one account I wasn't getting the issue with had no tone set in the Notification Center settings. Thanks for this.

My issue only affected vibration. I had always chosen "Quick" which is 1 quick buzz, but emails kept buzzing as Staccato (2 quick buzzes). No matter what I chose, it wouldn't buzz properly. Audio tones were normal.

I was able to get mine back to normal, but not using exactly these steps. By doing these steps, setting the primary sound (Under Settings > Sounds > New Mail) to None, it overrode the choices from the Notifications menu, giving me no alert at all. However, I then went back to Settings > Sounds > New Mail (after doing all of these steps including the restart), and chose a new vibration pattern and IT WORKED!

so, hopefully that's repeatable for someone else.

I know this thread is a little old, but this issue is still persistant with iOS 8.1.3 on my new Iphone 6 plus. :mad:

I guessing this won't be fixed until iOS 9. I'm sure many people have filed bug reports but if you didn't hear, there were many rumours yesterday that iOS 9 will include a lot of bug fixes, stability and performance improvements while only adding a few features here and there and nothing major. I'm happy with that by the way if it's true.

For what it's worth, I've used all 5 of the 8.2 beta's and now the 8.3 beta and I haven't had a double notification at all with any of them. If it's not fixed yet in 8.1.3 then it should be fixed when 8.2 drops.

I had this happening for a while. I think 8.1.3 fixed it for me, but I am unsure. I just realized I hadnt heard it since 8.1.3. None of the previous switching sounds on/off did a damn thing though.
