That won't work.

You'd need the disks from an early 2011 MBP, with 10.6.7 or later. The Apple disk is 10.6.3 which will refuse to install on your machine I can guarantee it.

It will not refuse if you use Target disk mode. Find a Mac (say a C2D) that supports 10.6.3 and install it onto the late 2011 drive, then patch to 10.6.8. It'll then boot normally as all the required drivers are available.
