You certainly don't speak for me- how can you honestly suggest that someone leave macrumors because YOU don't like them talking **** about apple. I can't stand that lame philosophy that just because Apple is "less evil" than Microsoft, you can't criticize it even when it is OBJECTIVELY screwing up.

You're proof that this community needs people from the outside looking in.

If the statement "Apple's not as good as it could be" pisses you off, you need people to take your thinking outside of the box.

Agreed. There's a difference between a Mac user/lover and those who treat macs like a religous icon, thinking that they can do no wrong.

I venture to say that if Apple fails to meet their ship date we had ought to start up a petition. We bought an upgraded version of a long standing product TWO MONTHS AGO, and have been led to believe that the latest we would receive them is 7/30 or 8/2 in my case. If they fail to deliver the goods that we as customers are so eager to spend our money on, then why shouldn't Apple get a piece of my mind?

here's the thing - apple is not trying to screw you over here. If they could have had them to you 2 months ago, they would have. This isn't some plot, like some have suggested, where apple is just messing with you because they know they have you, and laughing all the way. It's entirely in apple's interest to ship every product absolutely as fast as possible. If there are delays, that's because they are having problems in production. If you really want to blame someone, blame the 3rd party manufacturers because they are often the ones to blame (the guys who supply video cards, mini hard drives, etc.).

No, apple is not the perfect company. But IMHO, all things considered, they're still the best option out there. If you disagree, there are a lot of other options, and you know what they are. I'm not sure what you want from apple; you have to know that they are doing the best they can.

I agree...but I don't think anyone honestly thinks apple is trying to "screw them". I think that people are just fed up with the incompetence we've seen when it comes to shipping and introducing products. I have to admit, my wait has been pretty lightweight- I'm only a day or two over my maximum original quoted delivery time (2-4 weeks) for my 23" display. But what about the x-serves and jesus...all those people who bought ipod minis? And not to mention all those people (myself included) who waited patiently for steve's promise on the g5's. It's a pattern of disregard for die-hard customers. And I'm sorry...the g5 situation is disgusting.

I know that Apple's products are great, but come on...does that mean we can't suggest that they do things better with their business practice? I mean, that's like saying you can't bitch about the best airline just because the others are worse...and we all know that flying on the best airline is still worse than having a cavity drilled.

SWEET MAYBE THEY'LL SHIP SOON!! :D :D :D

Please, please, please be absolutely freakin sure before you say that. M=Not a hold, or an inquiry, but an actual charge.

Once you're certain, perhaps hope can still bloom. :p

ok, this is what my mom told me... I will ask her to call them and make sure...

another user told me it could be an "authorization/pending" charge... *sigh*

i was piss-in-my-pants happy for a while

Edit: fudge, my mom said it could have been just the authorization/pending thing...but she can't call because she's going to work at 1:30 PM and getting prepared....

As we approach my "on or before 2/8/04" ship date, and especially as I strongly suspect I'm going to see this deadline whoosh by without any sign of my new Mac, I am wondering has anyone at all received their DP2.5?

After having been caught out by Apple in the past I've been waiting 8 months for the fabled "Dual 3GHz" that Jobs bul****ted us about when I could have bought a Dual 2.0 back in January 04 and after the disappointment of only a Dual 2.5 which I ordered TWO MONTHS AGO I'm starting to get seriously annoyed. If they delay me any longer I'm seriously looking at sticking with the PC and buying a new Dell. At least I know exactly what I would be getting and know that if I order I'll see something before 2005. The absolute last straw would be if I have to wait more months for the "DP2.5" (if they exist) only to find out the dual cores get announced just after I buy and its too late for a refund.

"Switch to Apple" - sure - great except for one thing - you cant ****ing buy them.

Quite frankly this whole fiasco has been ****ing ridiculous. How is this company still in business?

wait till it goes wrong and you are at the mercy of the ***s at apple uk customer - er...relations

just a random thought (don't get me wrong, i will love my powermac especially since it's most likely going to ship in the first batches..yay):

A LOT of people complain about apple hardware... when my sister bought her emac, she had to get the cd-drive fixed. I've seen so many other people complain about hardware, including a guy who said that 3/4 of his last orders have had problems....we'll see!

Apple Computer, Inc. is preparing to ship the first "official" batch of liquid-cooled dual processor 2.5 GHz Power Mac G5s, which should begin appearing on some customer's doorsteps as early as next week, AppleInsider has learned.

Apple began taking pre-orders for the 2.5 GHz Power Macs in early June, citing availability from the Apple Store in July. Although the company this month was reported to have provided select partners and clients with a handful of its earliest production models, shipments have yet to begin to the average consumer.

This week the Apple Store remained optimistic that the company will make good on its July promissory statement. According to well placed sources, the first customer shipments of 2.5 GHz Power Macs are currently "on track" to leave Apple's manufacturing facilities this Friday, July 30th.

Over the past week, several customers have noted pre-authorization charges from Apple on their bill statements. This is a typical precautionary measure taken by the Apple online store to detect any customer finance issues just days prior to shipping large product orders.

Unfortunately for most 2.5 GHz Power Mac adopters, the initial shipment is expected to be quite limited. A recent analysis of pending Power Mac G5 orders indicates that only those customers who placed orders during the first week or so of availability are likely to see their orders fulfilled by the first week of August. In fact, it appears that IBM's G5 manufacturing problems will continue to plague the Power Mac family well into September. New orders for 2.5 GHz Power Macs carry a waiting period of at least 4 to 6 weeks, meanwhile customers have also reported their share of delays associated with fresh orders for the slower 2.0 GHz Power Mac models.

On a more positive note, information suggests that Apple's July 30th 2.5 GHz Power Mac shipments may include a handful of NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL graphics cards. Apple had previously stated that the graphics card--a requirement for Apple's new 30-inch HD Cinema display--would not ship until late August.

Although higher-ups at the Apple online store confirmed plans to begin shipping the new Power Macs later this week, they were cautious not to rule out any last minute delays. In the event that plans change, sources say that customers with July delivery estimates will receive an e-mail from the Apple Store, updating their order status to an reflect an early August delivery.

FU APPLE!

If my new shipping date is after the 7th I'm canceling my order.

I hope it won't take that long for a BTO powerbook....I plan on ordering it sat. I need it for school. If i don't have a laptop for school i will be screwed because i'm dependet on it cause i can't write to save my life.

If mine doesn't ship by the 9th I'm canceling (the 7th turned out to be a Saturday).
