I don't mean to hate or disrespect, but was I the only one who though:
"LOL wot? Who cares?"
I mean, really, would we care at all if Dre was not connected at all with Beats?
I honestly shook my head when I saw the cover of the album and I though how this is news now.

I am not all for a monopolized streaming service because we all know where that leads, but I would rather these companies focuses on quality of the product, customer experience, customer service, product features. Instead of forcing people into their product with exclusives.

I was originally excited about Apple Music, because of the possible integration with my Apple Products. Now I almost wish they would just go away if this is what they are going to do to streaming.

All of these exclusivity deals are going to drive me back to pirating music. If you don't release your music to every streaming service, at the same time, I'll gladly download from a source where you won't get a dime of my money.

Well, you're obviously not running a business or having any revenue/margin obligations at all. It's legitimate the artists also try to maximize their money like you try to do.

It's not an issue of Spotify vs Apple Music, vs Tidal, vs whatever. It's an issue of fragmentation. These deals hurt all users of every streaming service.

Welcome to the free-market economy ;) With no fragmentation a monopoly will be the outcome and costs will rise in absence of competition.

Dr Dre is too ghetto for Apple.

I see what you mean, but it's not really the rap artist Dr. Dre anymore we're talking about these days...

not the biggest fan of the fact that streaming services are getting into the exclusives game, or of Dre himself (considering he's done some pretty shady things in the past before becoming an entrepreneur) BUT the responses to this post (and for that matter almost every post about Apple Music and artists) are kind of funny. it's 75% cranky old whites soapboxing about what they do and don't consider real music. cut that out

Never post but couldn't agree more. These music "snobs" and beacons of morality are getting really hard to take. Just say it's not your cup of tea and move on without the moody, judgemental, self-righteous BS. Please...

Still can't believe that this man was hired by Apple. I'm the ultimate Apple fanboy but that's the one decision that I cannot comprehend. Steve would have never agreed to this.

Why would he? I am not a rapper and rap music is not my thing. If I tried to figure out what rap songs to promote, I would fail miserably. Clearly there is a significant market out there for this genre of music and it makes sense to add someone with credentials in the category that can help drive sales. Neither Tim nor Eddie look like someone that could drive rap sales and when your whole music business is starting to go down hill, you should explore every avenue. Apple makes tons of money because they make smart choices. I am betting that this choice which you cannot believe will help them make money and drive better revenue in the rap genre. Being Cuban, the only rap I listen to on occasion is Pitbull (who probably is not considered a true rapper like Dr Dre or MNM).

I see jimmies are rustled and I love it.

Meanwhile, Dre is still worth millions while the people complaining about him are scraping together their money to buy more Apple products that he helps endorse, furthering his riches.

If you complainers were really about that life, you'd stop buying Apple products because of this homophobic, misogynistic individual. But you won't. You'll continue to complain, chastise AND support at the same time. And you'll continue entertaining me when anything rap or black (a.k.a. "non-Apple like") comes up.

The first time I had heard of Dr Dre was when Apple bought Beats. In fact, the first time I had heard of Beats was when Apple bought Beats, although I had seen their ugly headphones without knowing (or caring) what brand they were. Yes I am middle aged and sad, no doubt, but Apple seems to be losing any genuine integrity and style they perhaps once had by getting into bed with anyone and anything that can help raise another dollar, regardless of quality or substance.

Streaming music sites were SO CLOSE to, whilst not ending piracy certainly doing a huge step towards stemming it. All the people I knew at university who pirated music are all on Spotify as of a couple of years ago. I really thought they nailed it. Exclusive deals won't result in people signing up to multiple services, at least not for the majority of users. They'll stick to one and pirate the rest.

Hell, my friends and I already do that with TV streaming services. Some have Netflix, some have Amazon Prime. If something isn't on yours you get it elsewhere.

How does this relate to Dre's past?

Looks like a bunch of friends drinking and celebrating a billion dollar deal. Sure, they cuss, are loud and probably don't celebrate the way that you would (since it's pretty obvious what you're insinuating by posting the video).

But surely that doesn't offend you, does it? People can't swear now? We can't drink now? We can't be loud and boisterous with our buddies now? Gimme a break.

I think it has more to do with where this is going to take streaming music if it doesnt get put in check than simply loosing artist A or B if your on a different service. Fragmenting streaming services like this doesnt do anything but hurt the customer. I really dont want to have to subscribe to more than one streaming service to get the music I want.
