Last night while trying to watch Windtalkers on Hulu, the MBP starting acting
up again. But as you can see, the display is ok temporarily after doing a restart:

OK, so have you contacted Apple yet? You have a repair warranty.

so?

take it back AGAIN.

It only happens when the graphics chip gets stressed out. Right now I'm using it and everything is fine, but as soon as I try to watch a movie full screen, or pull up an Adobe file, it's back to the jumping stripes. I'm not sure I could reproduce the incident on cue at the Apple store when I need to.

I know it's harder to deal with tech support when you can't reproduce the problem. But you still should take it back and tell them when it happens and what you are doing when it happens.

It's an expensive laptop, don't settle for an expensive, broken laptop.

If they can't fix it, eventually they'll have to at least replace it (cause it's sounding more and more like you just got a lemon).

It likely doesn't matter. So many of the graphics chips are defective that Apple probably won't press the matter much. It'll be easier to deal with now then after the repair warranty is gone.

I've been following the posts made by other people with the 2007 MBP and most all of them are having reoccurring problems even after a logic board replacement. One person said that there will always be a problem as long as Apple keeps putting in logic boards that contain the NVidia 8600M graphics chip -- I'm beginning to think that person is correct.
