Ten year old game original thread.

A funny thing happened, I purchased Bulder’s Gate 3, had waited a year for it to go on sale, but I lacked the foresight to research it in advance. I immediately refunded it due to its turn based combat. Nice looking game, but combat was tedious, my bad. So now I went back to Dragon Age Inquisition, and there is no console to speak of, so I tried to install mods, what a nightmare. If using Vortex, it installs both the DAI Mod Manager and the Frosty Mod Manager, but you have to configure. I did this, but when I installed mods, the game would not start. So I removed everything and will play without… for now. :)

Anyway, the advantage of DAI is that party members can be directed, but also act on their own, not turn based. I’ll see how long this lasts. I had quit it before because early combat seems a bit limited, but I want to make it work. :)

Pulled from another thread:
Have you tried Pathfinder: Kingmaker ?

It has a choice of turn based or real time combat (that can be paused).

I use real time combat and pause when I want to give new orders.

I have not and I will look at it. (Quick peak) The huge advantage that DAI has, is you’re not stuck in isometric view.

You probably know I’m grind sensitive, and I found Cheat Engine, which I’m using for DAI which allows me to acquire herbs without running all over the countryside collecting them. This does skew the desired mechanics the Devs placed in the game, but I’m good with that. I choose my challenges. :)

For anyone who is interested in Cheat Engine and DAI. It’s not that intuitive to use:
